As we begin our new Holy Name of God, lets join together in our mindset and allow the Holy Spirit interpret the verses and intercede for us in a prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you that you are here with us in this prayer. Right now, I ask that you open the minds of the people on the other side of the screen. That they may understand that holy name that is Jehovah Jireh. That in this time together, we learn that these names are not only holy but have power when spoken. I thank you for the devotion of the person on the other side of the screen, the devotion to know more of who you are. I pray that my words come from your word and I move myself to the side and let your Holy Spirit speak through me. We thank you God for another day to praise you. In your precious and holy name, Jehovah Jireh, we pray, AMEN!
Read Psalm 34:1-10
The whole chapter of Psalm 34 is David escaping a life threatening situation around King Ambimelech. King Ambimelech knew of King David's reputation of running from King Saul. He in turn used this against King David and it throw him into a pit of madness. Once David had escaped, David started praising God for delivering him and protecting him.
Lets take a look at Psalm 34:9-10 it says, "Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing."
Jehovah Jireh, what does it mean?
Jehovah Jireh means The Lord is my Provider.
Now knowing the definition of Jehovah Jireh, we can understand the context of Psalm 34:9-10 and what it states. David is explaining that even when we mess up or run from Him, He will still provide for us. Whether it is provision in our mental health, in our finances, in our spiritual growth, He will provide. Personally, He provides me with joy everyday. Life is not cupcakes and rainbows all the time, but My God will always provide for me in all situations. At the end of all of my prayers I always say, " I thank you God for all circumstances. Whether they are good or bad. Lord, I will glorify and praise you in every single one." I will continue to thank and glorify Him because He will continue to always provide. I encourage you to always have this reminder.
We must humble ourselves before Him, and stand firm of His provision for us.
