Layla blows out a huff of air as she walks alongside her brother on rickety dock. "Is there anyway you can avoid the DCS visit?" Since the day the two siblings found out their dad's lost as sea -allegedly - Layla has always worried about the living conditions of her older brother. Sure, he was able to keep up with the bills due to the job he had working on the Cameron's boat, but he was still constantly on edge. DCS was on his back, trying to make sure that he had a legal guardian watching over him, as John B's seventeen.
For the first few months, Uncle T would stay at the Château, keeping DCS at bay. John B had a chance to breath during that time - and to be completely honest, so did Layla. She doesn't want anything happening to her brother, and the thought of him being forced to go to the mainland, and ending up in a foster home made her sick to her stomach. But, Uncle T is gone now. He's in Mississippi, building houses. Though he's a pretty fun man to be around, he's not a reliable legal guardian. He can barely take care of himself.
