You looked out the window, admiring the view as you breathed, taking in the air. Your fellow team members were either fast asleep or excited, and to be frank they were getting pretty cocky, which you didn't quite like it.
"I'm sure we'll be battling Aoba Johsai again," Goshiki said confidently from his seat.
You sat at the back of the buss with the rest of the third years just so you could sit next to your boyfriend without looking too suspicious towards the coaches, although, you did have a feeling they knew about you two. But as long as Ushijima's performance wasn't affected - and it wasn't - they truly couldn't care less.
"You never know. Maybe there's a dark horse somewhere in this competition," Tendou remarked, placing a guess.
"Either way, we'll still get our ticket to Nationals," Goshiki smirked.
You finally butted in, "Hey, would you not get so cocky? We haven't won yet. Just focus on winning today's matches first please?"
Ohira backed you up, "That's right. We'll do what we always do."
The bus finally reached the gymnasium and soon enough, you all exited the buss and entered the gym.
You couldn't deny the strong aura your team emitted. With the signature maroon jackets and the undeniably tall average height to complement the already infamous reputation, it was no wonder all eyes would fall on your team whenever you all passed by. You could hear faint whisper.
"That's Shiratorizawa."
"Undefeated Champions huh?"
"They're all so tall."
"They have Ushiwaka. He's really intense."
"Woa, is that their manger? Oh damn, she's cute."
That last line caused Ushijima to shoot a death glare at the boy who uttered those words. His stare was intense, and the boy had to immediately use the toilet after.
"What are you doing?" You asked, eyeing him.
Ushijima shrugged, "I wanted to agree with him, but of course also make it clear you are off limits."
You chuckled, "You're cute when you're jealous."
He scoffed, "I'm not jealous. That is a childish trait. And it's your thing."
"What? Are you calling me childish?" You scolded.
He narrowed his brows, "Yes. It's nothing new."
"And yet it's offensive every time," you glare at him.
Your team settled by the side of one of the gym's bleachers, setting their things as they begin light warmups. You helped the coaches out, carrying necessary items and ensuring their water and towels were all well prepared.
You noticed Ushijima wasn't around, but just as you were about to ask, he suddenly returned, with some kind of fire in his eyes.
"Where did you go?" You asked.
He replied, "Bumped into Oikawa and Iwaizumi from Seijoh and a small, overconfident kid from Karasuno."
Your eyes widened, "Oh, i forgot Tooru was going to be here! I should probably say hi to him."
"That would bring no benefit," Ushijima told you.
"You can hate him, but he's still my friend and my wingman," you shrugged.
Ushijima rolled his eyes. He still didn't want to accept that Oikawa was partly responsible for getting you and him together.
"And Karasuno huh? I've been meaning to watch them," you said honestly.
