Y/N's POV:

Pulling Luke's hoodie over my head, I inhaled the smell of his cologne. It didn't make me smile like it normally did, no, today was different. All it did was engulf me with warmth from the cold weather outside. It was a chilly day in early December, winter break was right around the corner. Luke and I haven't been clicking like we used to — it was sort of expected for our one year relationship built on lies.

I don't say anything like usual, just clutched his hoodie closer to my body, trying to remain as warm as possible. He kissed my cheek hurriedly before rushing off to his water polo friends. I scoffed to myself as I approached my own friends who sat in the far back area of the quad — the main area on campus. I kept my backpack on my right shoulder as I took a seat beside Zoe.

Her eyes met mine and a smile flashed on her face. "Hungry?" She offers me a banana from her lunch box with a chocolate chip granola bar as well. I gratefully accept it and give her a side hug to show my appreciation. Drew is rambling on and on about her next volleyball game while Odessa sat up against the wall with a bored expression on her face, picking at her nails. Damien was new to the group, but he fit in perfectly. His black painted nails tapped against the circle table we sat at with the school's knight logo placed in the center of it. Alex has been my best friend since 5th grade so she's been here for a while.

Then there was Billie. Billie and I are sort of frenemies. We were enemies for years until her friends; Zoe and Drew joined my friends; Odessa and Alex. We were forced to become friends and get along... which hasn't happened.

"I heard George Stokes was planning on asking Lizzy out to prom, but his best friend beat him to it. And even stole his idea." Damien spoke out calmly, his hands and eyes now glued to his phone. He was all about drama, he was in theatre for a reason.

"Who even cares about prom?" Billie propped her feet up in the center of the table. Her usual bright, green Jordan 1 retro's were in sight for us all now. She always wore those shoes — even if they didn't match with her outfit. But, today they did. She wore grey, baggy sweats with a neon green hoodie. A black tank top was probably being worn underneath like usual.

"I do." I break my silence, leaning against Zoe who happily munches away on her strawberry poptarts.

"But, you're a nobody, so why would I care?" Billie smirks. She's trying to get a rise out of me. I simply ignore her sarcastic comment and roll my eyes.

"If you must know, O'Connell, prom is the dance that comes twice a year for juniors and seniors. Some people treasure that dance, maybe it's even their chance to ask people out. Who knows? Oh, wait, you wouldn't know since you're stupid." A mocking and cocky grin takes place on my lips as Billie scowls at me. She opens her mouth to counter back, but Drew holds her back and speaks instead.

"So, who is going to prom then?" Everyone except Billie raises their hand. "You don't have a date, Bil? What about that one chick? What's her name?" She snaps her fingers in thought to try and remember. "Oh yeah! Hannah!"

"Pfft." Billie made a face and grimaced with a disgusted shiver. "I hated that bitch, she was so..."

"Pick me?" Alex finished for her and Billie slammed her hand on the table in agreement, pointing at my best friend. "I agree, I never really liked her anyway."

"Not to mention she was also super whiny." Odessa brought up and raised her head from her arms. "Remember when Billie said she'd be joining us at the skatepark and Hannah screamed and cried her head off until Billie allowed her to join us?"

"See? I fucking hated her." Billie scoffed and the rest of the group chorused into agreements, recounting the memories of Horrible Hannah. From across the table, Billie and I made eye contact. She smirked at me a playfully blew me a kiss which caused me to roll my eyes.

This bitch is so bipolar. I swear, just like earlier, she could be making fun of me and the next she's flirting with me. She does in front of my boyfriend, too. She's bold, I know, but then again, Luke doesn't care anymore. He doesn't care about our relationship. It's almost like he wants Billie to make a move so it's a reason to leave me.

The bell suddenly rang and each of us had to dispose from one another to attend class. Billie and I (unfortunately) had first period together. Which was pe. She did a dorky bow to our friends while I just smiled.

"Slow down, princess." Billie chuckled as I was trying to speed walk away from her, but she caught up to me and hooked her arm around my neck. Did I mention she loves to use pet names on me?

"I don't wanna be late. Again." I turned my head towards her and she whistled as she turned her head, pretending that it wasn't her who made us late yesterday for pe, resulting in an extra lap to run.

"Not my fault I was too busy staring at your ass, bae." She smirked in my face. I rolled my eyes again at the shorter girl who lightly jogged ahead of me.

"Shut up, O'Connell." I scoffed and celebrated a small victory in my head when she grumbled under her breath. When Billie first started going here, she went under the name of Billie Eilish. That was until I discovered what her full name was so I, of course, had to use that against her.

We walked into the locker room together and stood 6 feet apart from each other. I slipped on my black biker shorts and a simple grey t-shirt. I glanced out of the corner of my eye to see Billie wearing her usual extremely baggy, green basketball shorts with a darker grey t-shirt on. She wore her same bright ass kicks.

I took off my brand new converse to slip on an old pair of running adidas. Grabbing my phone and headphones, I stuffed them in the skintight pockets of my biker shorts before Billie and I walked out of the locker room together. About a year ago Billie used to change in the bathroom because she's intersex and she didn't want anyone to know. But, now, she couldn't care less.

We leaned up against the far wall near the basketball courts as we awaited for the remaining girls to finish changing and for our teacher to come out and tell us what we're doing today. I suddenly smelled a strong, blueberry smell from beside me. Glancing at Billie, I rolled my eyes when she had a vape pen cupped away in her hands.

"Put that away before you get in trouble." I smacked her bicep, causing her to wince due to how hard I hit her.

"Jeez, okay, fine." Billie kicked my shoe lightly which only made me grumble as she tucked the vape pen away in her shirt. "You're grumpier than usual today. What's up with you?"

Oh, nothing, just my boyfriend possibly cheating on me with many other girls, is what I wanted to say, but I didn't. Not like Billie would care anyway. "Nothing, don't worry about it." I threw her a tight lipped smile as I ran past her to run up to our teacher who blew her whistle. We gathered around to practice some soccer drills.

Finally Billie caught up to me and shoved my shoulder because of my teasing from before. I chuckled to myself before pushing her away to get to the ball first.
