FLIGHT: How to Be Brave

---

Nishinoya Yu falls in love like the bang of a cannon! A subtle building up to a moment, counting down step by step until you reach the final moment - and just let yourself fall.

---

Nishinoya's heart seems to stop for the briefest of moments as everything around him seems to freeze.

You're quite pretty.

He feels like a young boy again. Uncertain of everything he knows and unsure of what lies ahead. It's quite an unpleasant feeling but also strangely nostalgic.

There are many kinds of people in this world. There are many kinds of smiles in this world.

And then there's you.

---

Seven.

"What're you looking at, Nishinoya?"

The libero snaps his head away from you and his cheeks flush. He's never been someone embarrassed to be caught staring but it feels weird knowing that you're a stranger. He wonders if this is how everyone else feels when they've been caught? Perhaps?

It's not an emotion he's all too familiar with.

"Nishinoya?"

He shugs in response.

His teammates eye him but end up not questioning him further. It isn't their place and they seem to have other things in mind. Today, afterall, is going to be quite the important match for them.

The accumulation of all their hard work. All their blood (though there wasn't much), sweat, and tears.

Here on out would determine what feels like either the beginning of something new or the end of the world. Perhaps the notion is rather intense? He isn't too sure after all Nishinoya has always been a competitor. It is the mindset of a competitor to see everything that is to come as a challenge and every failure as more than what it really is in the big picture.

Is that how everyone else sees the world?

Is that how you see the world?

Truthfully, he finds it hard to relate to people that are lax and non-competitive. They often see him as durmatic or eccentric. Too much to handle in large doses. And he finds them to often be lacking. It's not lacking in a negative manner but just something different. It is two worlds they live in, afterall. Two worlds they rarely collide.

"Hey, is that (L/n)-san?"

"Who?"

"That girl! She's the one that was on the cover of volleyball monthly."

Nishinoya looks over to his teammates as they watch you from a distance. And then, though flushed cheeks, he steals another glimpse at you.

---

Six.

His heart does that weird fluttering thing again.

It's sort of an irritating feeling that tightens his chest and makes his fingers tingle. Is this the kind of feeling someone gets when they meet people like you? Or is this a feeling exclusive to someone like you? Is it purely something that he has towards you?

That fluttering in his chest makes him both want to curl up in a ball and run around the stadium running and jumping. He doesn't, obviously, but they both certainly feel like plausible options.

"I read in a magazine that she went to Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High."

"Hey that's where you went, isn't it Kagayama?"
