"What do you mean I did that to myself?" I yelp. "Are you saying I healed my own wounds?"

"Shhhh," he says, putting his finger to his mouth. "I will tell you when we get back to the Monastery. Until we get within the walls of the monastery, you're not entirely under the protection of the Trinity, or of me."

He tosses the dark compression-type pants at me, and I slip them on with shaky hands. Then I remove my gown and pull on the matching top and facial covering. Finally, I put the robe over my clothes, becoming the Ghost personae again.

I stand on shaky legs and instantly break into a ball of sweat. "I don't know if I can do this," I say to Edmond. "I'm shaking."

Edmond grabs my elbow, steadying me. "Can you walk until we get past the nurses station and into the hallway? There are people waiting for us there to help us get back to the monastery."

I swallow and give a jerky nod. "I'll do my best."

His smile is warm as sunshine, and I cling to it, as I stumble forward, following him out the front door.

We walk down the long wooden corridor with gleaming wood floors and arched ceilings, though not as high as the ones at the Monastery. The walls are covered with three dimensional etchings of different doctors, and notable Legacy Personnel. I slide my gloved hand over the surface of the wall, feeling the bumps from the etchings.

We get to the nurses station and Edmond nods to the black haired woman with braids pulled into a large bun at the back of her head.

"Everything good?" the nurse says to him. Her brows furrow as she eyes me.

Edmond inclines his head. "As good as can be expected. I'll be back to check on him in the morning."

A male nurse sitting next to her, shorter, with blond hair, and a beak of a nose, narrows his eyes at me and then at Edmond. "You didn't come in with the Ghost."

Edmond pauses and turns, forcing me to stop my march. I don't turn, for fear I might fall over. So I pause, facing the exit. Edmond raises a brow at the man. "Of course you didn't. All the ghouls are training to be unseen. That was his assignment. If you had seen him he would have failed."

The man's brows rise and his mouth pops open. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to question you. It's just..."

Edmond raises a hand to silence the nurse before his gaze darts down the hall and he says, "All is forgiven."

Then Edmond motions to me and we're out the door. I'm panting by the time I get through the doors. As soon as we're out of sight of the nurses, he immediately turns to grab me.

I sag against him for support and strength. "Thank you."

On either side of the doors, Trina and Oliver swoop in. She's pushing a wheelchair and Oliver grabs my other arm, helping Emond lower me to the chair.

I'm barely settled before all three of them are practically running down the halls toward the exit.

Behind us, I someone calling to us.

Oliver sprints forward, pushing the double doors to the outside open and waving us through to a circular drive where ambulances stop to deliver patients.

Waiting in front of the hospital is Edmond's personal diplomatic vehicle with it's back doors wide open.

Trina lurches to a stop, nearly dumping me onto the ground.

Oliver grabs one arm, and Edmond grabs the other, while Trina does something to the automatic doors, jamming them and keeping the team of nurses and security from being able to exit.

I'm in a daze as Oliver helps me into the middle of the back seat, then slides in next to me, closing the door. Edmond jumps into the front passenger seat, and Trina slides into the back seat on my other side.

Something in the sliding glass door gives way, and the doors open, allowing a small group of guards and nurses to pile out of the doors and surge forward toward our car.
