The afternoon buzz of the bullpen hummed in my ears, the repetitive sound of Morgan clicking a pen and Reid swinging around on his squeaky chair mildly irritating. I sighed and slumped back in my own non-squeaky chair, discarding a thick file of paperwork on my messy desk. "Anyone up for grabbing some lunch?" Morgan broke the restless silence, his face accommodating a playful smirk as he looked towards me and Reid. "I'll go with you. I think if I have to stare at another piece of paper I'm going to cry" I replied, slowly standing up and stretching, letting out a yawn. "What about you, pretty boy?" Morgan asked, walking over to Reid to perch on the edge of his desk. "Yeah, no thanks!" Reid smiled, not before poking Morgan with a pen, urging him to get off his desk. "See you later, then" I waved goodbye, dragging Morgan towards the glass doors and through to the elevator.

Morgan walked towards me with 2 neatly wrapped sandwiches and a coffee each, placing them down on the bench he passed me my lunch. "So, what'd you do before you came here, babygirl?" Morgan inquired, taking a bite of his sandwich. I swallowed my mouthful before replying, explaining how I had originally worked at MI6 in England. "It was actually quite enjoyable working back home. It made me feel like James Bond, whereas now, I feel as though I'm constantly in one of those American true crime documentaries" I explained, chuckling slightly. "James what now?" Morgan questioned, looking at me with a puzzled expression. "You don't know who James Bond is? Americans!" I snickered, turning my attention to the busy park. Morgan began to say something, probably trying to poorly defend himself before he went quiet, realising I wasn't listening.

"Grey?" I ignored him, my attention was fixed on a man a few yards across from us, dressed in all black, a hood obscuring his face. It wouldn't have stood out too much, it was a cold day after all, if it wasn't for the fact he kept twitching, his hands constantly brushing over his dufflebag. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the top part of- some kind of black box? And some wires, maybe? "Hey, Morgan..." I murmured, diverting his attention to the man. Morgan stiffened beside me, his eyes fixed on what I had pointed out. "You call Hotch, okay? Tell him to get here, now." I nodded, reaching for my phone.

I watched as Morgan slowly started walking towards the direction of the cloaked man, all plans of a nice lunch abandoned. The phone rang for a few seconds before Hotch picked up, his gruff voice on the other end of the line. "Hotchner" He muttered, ever the no-nonsense man that he was. "Hotch, you got to get here now, to the park across from the office." I spoke, my voice wavering slightly as I surveyed the area, trying to figure the safest way to get people away from the man. "What's wrong?" Hotch asked, his voice taking on a tone of concern. "Are you hurt?" Why was he so worried? Maybe it was because he thought having a new agent die on the job so early would not look good. "We might be soon. Hurry up. And maybe bring a bomb squad" I advised him, before ending the call.

I scanned the crowds, looking for some kind of way to draw people away without it being too noticeable. Morgan was loitering close to the man, not daring to approach until the area was somewhat cleared. I had to do something, quick. My eyes finally landed on an icecream van across the other side of the park, my mind working quickly as I noticed the majority of people here had young children with them. I turned around and looked at Morgan, sending him a thumbs up, I ran towards the van, my heels clicking as I went. I probably should invest in some trainers. "Hey! I need to use your vehicle." I spoke sternly, flashing my badge at the man inside the icecream truck. "Uh, yeah, whatever..." He muttered stepping back, his eyes lingering on my gun holster, partly hidden by my jacket, as I climbed in.

"Do you have one of those mega-phone things?" I asked, quickly stealing a glance towards Morgan. No boom just yet. "Yeah, over there. Just press that big red button-" I interrupted him with a short thanks, stumbling over to the mega-phone, I turned it on and lent forward. "HEY, ATTENTION EVERYBODY. WE GOT FREE ICE CREAM HERE! FREE ICE CREAM! COME RIGHT ON OVER, GET YOUR FREE ICE CREAM." I shouted into the little speaker, hoping to move people towards the other end of the park.

The promise of something free, especially something involving ice cream, caught the attention of many passers-by. Usually, it's like watching moths to a flame. Young children dragged their parents towards the van, oblivious of the danger behind them. I squinted, trying to see Morgan past the swarm of people. "Hey, I'll make sure you get your money back, just so long as you keep these people here, kay?" I muttered to the stunned owner before climbing out again and maintaining a steady pace towards the general direction of the shifty looking guy.

I glanced over my shoulder, the loud engines of the dark SUVs could be heard as they sped towards the parking lot with a screech, the bomb squad following close behind. The rest of the team exited the vehicle, Hotch in the lead. He started directing people about, ordering the team to stay put he strode towards us. By now the man had noticed the evident commotion, the wheels in his small brain turning ever so slowly, his eyes widening at the situation. He quickly scrambled for the bomb detonator, waving it in the air. "D-don't come any closer! Or I- I'll press the button!" He stuttered nervously, his movements similar to that of a corned animal.

At this point my gun was in my hands, my finger hovering over the trigger. The only thing stopping me from shooting was the possibility of the bomb being triggered by a sudden movement, I figured this was most likely a homemade bomb, notoriously unreliable. If I'm being honest, if I fancied taking out a large group of people, I'd just buy a machine gun or something. Much more reliable. Hotch suddenly approached me, the only indicator of his presence was the instant change in the air. Suddenly everything felt awfully cold. I looked at him out of the corner of my eyes, his own eyes already on mine, sweeping over my body in a swift glance. Satisfied, he looked back towards the man, frowning as Morgan tried calmly talking to the bomb enthusiast.

The man was a frantic shaking mess, rather more nervous than most bombers in my opinion, but, then again, it wasn't exactly all that surprising. Hotch looked back at me and gestured to go closer, his hand movement unnoticeable if you weren't looking. Not that I was purposely looking at his hands. I nodded slightly and started to creep forward before I thought I ought to lower my gun, a bit threatening if I'm honest. Morgan continued talking to the man, attempting to convince him nothing bad would happen if he would just pass over the detonator. The man shook his head, his hands shook as his thumb ghosted the button. "Hotch" I whispered. "He's not going to give himself up..." Hotch looked at me and then back towards Morgan and the man, his brow creasing as he thought.

"You're right. Morgan! Step back, now!" Hotch urged, his voice tinged with a slight trace of panic. "Grey, move!" He shouted, pushing me backwards. "Yeah, okay, not like I've always wanted to go kaboom or anything" I grumbled, annoyed at being shoved. Turning round, I strode back towards the SUVs, expecting Hotch to buy some time so the rest of the team could work out a plan. Suddenly, I felt a heavy body collide into mine, sending us both to the floor, knocking the wind from my crushed lungs.

Kaboom.
