I lead the boys into the house and towards Carls room. Dad was doing a blood pressure test on Carl. The Koran looked over at me before he took his hat off.

"Hey."Rick looked up at him."Hey."Dad stood from Carls side and looked back at the Koran boy."Um, we're here, okay?"I raised my eyebrow at the boy."Thank you."Lori nodded.

"Whatever you need."I looked up at the dark skin man before remembering his arm. I stepped to the side to let them out. I touched the the Koran's back feeling his warmth as I lead him to the kitchen.

"You can go head and sit there."Maggie looked up from the kitchen with a smile."Mags will you go get Patricia?"She nodded and walked out of the room.

"Let's see that arm."I sat down next to him and held onto his arm. Patricia came back with needle and thread.
"Here you are, Annie."I smiled up at her and she sat next to me.

I put my gloves back on and held onto the supplies."You ever had stitch done?"I questioned looking up at the boy. He shook his head no."It's gonna hurt like a Bitch."

"Annie, no cussing in the house." Patricia Warned I looked up at her.
"Sorry would you like a warning?"I asked the dark skinned man holding the needle to his arm.

"Uh."He looked up at the Koran and then back at me."No warning."I nodded and started poking at his skin he grunted in pain."son of a Mhmm."He cut himself off.

"Maggie will you make these guys some tea?"I looked up at her with a smile."Of course."She stared to make the tea. I looked down at the man's arm.

"You got here right in time. This is a pretty bad cut couldn't have gone much further without being untreated."I said as I waived the String back and forth.

Patricia held the man's arm down.
"Merle Dixon."She asked looking up at The Koran boy is that your friend with the antibiotics?"I looked up at her before looking back down at my work.

"No. Ma'am Merle's no longer with us."I glanced up at him.
"Daryl gave us those his brother."I looked back down I was almost done. I've done a lot of stitches when you live at a farm you learn to do um when you're young.

"Not sure I'd call him a friend."

"He is today this Doxycycline might have just saved your life." Patricia answered looking down at me."you know what Merle was taking it for?"She asked.

"The clap."I glanced up at him with a smirk on my face."uh, venereal disease."I looked down and back at the dark skinned man's arm."That's what Daryl said."

"Well Dixons clap was the best thing that happened to you."I said shaking my head."I'm really trying not to think about that."I watched as the Koran left the room.

"Patricia, can you take over my hands cramping up?"She nodded and I handed her the needle."Thanks."I took off the gloves and walked outside the house.

He didn't know I was there. He was sitting in my Mom chair. It looked like he was praying."You praying?"I leaned on a beam that supported the house.

He looked up at me with a frown."why do you sneak up on people so much?"I smiled shaking my head."I'm just a quiet person it doesn't help that yer easy to sneak up on."I shrugged sitting on a ledge of the fence.

"I was praying."He nodded and glanced at me."I was trying to."he looked down. I didn't mean to interrupt him."Do you pray often?"I leaned my head against the beam of the fence

"Actually, This is my first time."I licked my lips wait first try like he never prayed before."Ever?"I pray all the time. I wasn't as big of a religious as dad was actually I'm starting to think he doesn't exist at all.

He nodded I'm such a buzzkill I can't believe I crashed his first time."oh wow sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt your first time."I chuckled.

"God probably got the Gist."I nodded in agreement."what were ya prayin' for anyway?"I questioned

"Mostly friends they all been through a lot they all could use a little help right now."That seems to be what most people pray for their family there friends the ones you love.

"You think god exists?"I looked up at the sky."My dad told be to believe most of the time I try too."I tapped my foot."I mean now days? I'm not sure because the world is filled with such sorrow."I explained

I played with my fingers moving them around."My momma prayed. All the time I want to be like her but I don't see it happening. I mean with all that happened  had to be a lot of praying  but a lot hasn't been answered."

His face covered with doubt."Thanks this is really helping."I couldn't help but grin."sorry, if you want to pray go head I'm sure yers be the one god hears."

He looked up at me."uh are you gonna stay here?"I chuckled and looked up at the stars."Well the stars are pretty."He looked up along with me with a nod.

"I'm just kidding."I stood from the fence and walked over to his cup on the ground."I'll get you more tea instead."I bent down and grabbed his cup before I went inside I looked up at the sky.

"Night, mamma."I smiled at the stars The Koran looked at me confused.
"Night momma?"I glanced over at him."Oh, something my mom used to say she would say she'll be up in the stars one day watching over me."

I looked down at the boy."I guess ever since my mom pasted I been talking to the stars."I looked down at his cup.
"Uh, anyway I'll leave you to it."

I went to open the door but stopped. I looked over at him."Hey, I don't have any right but it's okay to believe in god if that's what you want. Even if he's not real you have to be the one to make it okay no matter what happens. Faith or no faith."

He smiled at me before I walked into the house. I stopped and chuckled looking down. I walked into the kitchen to make him some more tea.

"What's with the smile you got goin on."I looked over at Maggie with a blush."Uh, nothing I just love making tea."She snorted nodding."You got the love look."I rolled my eyes at her.

"Oh, come on, Maggie."I chuckled shaking my head."I just meet him today."I reminded her no way was I crushing on this boy already."you never told anyone outside of this family about mom and the stars."

I looked down at the tea bag."You were eavesdropping."I looked over at her with raised eyebrows."You're my big sister yeah I'm eavesdropping on you."I pored hot water into the cup.

"Carl woke up when you were busy."I smiled looking at her thankful she changed the subject."That's some good news."The thought of saving this little boy is something I would be proud of something that will make me fully believe.

Patricia came out of the room to grab a table quickly."What's going on?"I asked confused."we're doing the surgery."My eyes widen. There not back yet.

"Maggie finish this tea for me!"I rushed toward the door but dad stopped me."We got it Annie, you've done so much for this boy already."I looked towards the room.

I nodded and sat on the table. I leaned my head down 'Dear lord Be near Carl in his time of weakness and pain sustain him with your grace, that his strength and courage may not fail heal him according to your will and help him. Amen. I prayed
