The private waiting area was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Everyone sat there lost in thought, attempting to piece together what had taken place a few hours earlier. However, Haiti felt the need for some alone time, so she left the room.
They had been here since four in the morning, waiting hours for updates from the doctors, but no one had answered any questions so it had Haiti thinking the worst to the point where she experienced three anxiety attacks.
Everyone kept telling her everything was going to be okay and not to think the worst, but that was kind of difficult for her to do with her only brother lying in an operating room. Anything could go wrong.
Haiti felt sick to her stomach at the prospect of losing him in that particular circumstance, as it was already bad enough that they weren't on talking terms.
"Are you okay boo?" She heard a familiar voice ask from behind her not even bothering to look back.
"I'm scared, I won't be able to overcome losing my best friend. My only brother." She shook her head at the expectation of worse.
"We're not going to lose him, we can't. He wouldn't just leave his siblings, his child, or even me." Maddy said. "He promised to be by my side this whole pregnancy. I have faith in him, and you should as well."
Haiti didn't respond right away because she was astonished by the newly found information. After the commotion at her parent's house, she and Harlem haven't said much to one another. She had no idea that in a few months, she would be welcoming another niece or nephew into her life.
"How far along are you?" Haiti looked over at Maddy's belly noticing the little pudge she had. You can tell she was still in the early stages of pregnancy since you couldn't see the forming belly unless you looked closely.
"9 weeks, I'll be 10 on Wednesday." Maddy looked down and rubbed her belly through her shirt. "That's why I've been turning shots down left and right. He wanted to surprise everybody soon— we was just trying to figure out how."
"I knew something was up because you weren't drinking at the barbecue or the party. Can't believe I'll have another niece or nephew soon."
"I know, but don't tell anyone please let's wait until he's up." Maddy begged.
Teyana walked out of the private waiting area and into the empty hallway. She peered around, and eventually her eyes landed on Maddy and Haiti, who were deep in conversation. She walked down the deserted corridors until she approached the duo.
