King Kion and Queen Rani's life at the Tree.

Chapter 3: The Mystery With Rani

Kion wakes up to see Rani already gone. 

It's the first instance Rani leaves without him. He begins to worry as he walks out of the lair to see the Night Pride and Lion Guard talking. 

"Morning, Kion," Fuli tells him as he comes up from the lair.

"Hey guys. Have you seen Rani anywhere?" Kion asks, still a bit tired.

"I saw her last night. She was looking for you," Fuli replies."Oh." Kion's concern grows.

Baliyo lifts his head up."I think she went off for a walk or something. I saw her leave the Tree really early in the morning."

"Yeah. She's down by the waterfall," Bunga says.

"The waterfall?" Kion asks.

"Yeah."

Shido and Mrembo approach the Guard."Hey guys; hi Kion," She says in a flirty tone.

"Morning guys." Kion is ready to find Rani, but he notices three leopards coming up the mountain pass in a hurry.

"Everyone, leopards!" Kion yells. 

Everyone gets up and prepares to block the leopards from getting any closer.

They all run towards the mountain pass and cut the leopards off.

"Leopards, back off now!" Kion shouts.

"Why would we? we just got here!"Kion is not really in the mood to fight. As the clouds begin to swirl above him, he speaks again."I will give you one more chance, leopards. Back off now.""Oh, boo hoo! You think you can take us on? How pitiful," the lead leopard starts to taunt."I have a better idea." Kion smiles.Kion gets ready as everyone behind him braces, covering their ears.Kion roars, sending the leopards far. At the same time, the Roar's power dislodges a massive boulder from the mountainside above."Everyone, look out!"Kion thinks fast; he can't just roar at the boulder, he might miss. Kion roars at Mrembo to get her out of the way. He ends up hitting Surak and Nirmala as well as they both were in front of Mrembo, but they're still safe from the rock. After the boulder hits the ground and the dust clears, Kion gets up."Everyone okay?!" Kion asks.Nirmala gets up. "We're fine. Thank you, Kion."Surak gets up and shakes his mane. "Yeah, you saved us.""After he almost killed us!" Shido yells, infuriated."I'm sorry, I didn't know that the boulder was loose," Kion apologizes."You even roared at Mrembo!""Well, she was under the boulder. It's fine, Shido, everyone is okay, and that's what matters.""No! Everything's not fine! You're a dangerous person with that roar. You shouldn't have it!""Settle down, Shido!" Surak growls."Some people, jeez."Shido walks off as Rani comes running down."Wow, what happened?""Oh, Rani, there you are. We had three leopards running up the mountain pass," Kion tells her."What happened to Shido?""He got mad after I roared at Mrembo to save her from a falling boulder.""Well, I can see why," Rani mumbles.After everyone goes back towards the Tree of Life, Rani splits and goes straight into the Tree."I'll catch up with you guys later, I gotta go see what's up with Rani," Kion says as he splits.Kion sprints, trying to catch up with Rani as he follows her into the lair.Kion enters the lair to see Rani sitting down at the paintings looking at them."Hey, Rani, where did you go earlier in the morning?"Oh, Kion, I had to... take a walk."Kion knows she isn't telling him something."What's wrong?""Hmm. Oh, nothing."Kion remembers what Fuli said in the morning, about Rani looking for him last night. He thinks that Rani might've seen him with Mrembo, and realizes what Rani is doing and gets angry."Rani, are you serious?"''What?''"Last night, you were looking for me. You probably saw me with Mrembo, right?""Well yeah, bu-""So that's why you're looking at the paintings! You want to see if there's a way to revoke a king's power!""Hold on, how did you know-""No, no, no. You're mad at me because you saw me with another lion?""You were also creeping last night!" Rani shouts."What?""You were really quiet last night, so you would not wake me up to see you late.""Rani, are you serious? I was quiet, so I didn't wake you up and annoy you!""That's what I'm saying, tha-!""Rani! I don't like Mrembo... I like you. I was talking with her about her pride; that's really all we did. The fact that you're mad at me because you thought something else was going on is insane.""Y-you like me?""Of course, I've liked you since the day I got to the Tree of Life. But the way you're acting... It makes me rethink what I'm doing here and why I even came back."Kion begins to leave."Kion, wait! I'm really sorr-""Forget it, Rani!" Kion sprints out of the Tree and down the mountain pass.As Rani comes out of the Tree, Fuli and the rest of The Lion Guard and Night Pride approach to ask about the commotion."Rani, what happened?" asks Fuli."I really messed up."Rani turns around and goes back into the Tree. Baliyo and Nirmala follow her in."Guys, stay here. I'm going to go catch up with Kion," Fuli orders."Alright, Fuli," Surak replies.Fuli runs down the mountain pass and catches up with Kion."Kion, what happened?"Kion sits down in the snow."I don't know. I need time to clear my head.""You're going to leave?""Yeah, just for a couple of days."Kion gets back up and begins to walk off. Fuli gets in front of him."Wow, hold on, you can't leave, everyone will worry about you!""Fuli, I said I need time to think." Kion gets angry."Think about this, Kion. You can't jus-"Kion pushes Fuli to the ground and runs off."Kion! Wait!"Kion turns around and roars at the ground, throwing snow everywhere and covering his tracks. Kion was gone, as he runs off. Fuli heads back up the mountain pass and sees everyone else talking with Rani."Welp, he's gone," Fuli tells everyone."Did he use the Roar on you?" Surak asks."No, he used it to blind me with the snow.""Oh."Rani is still teary-eyed."Rani, you okay?" asks Fuli."Yeah, I'll be fine."
