Off Course

Ch 1

It was a beautiful day in the Kalos Region. The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Two young ladies were enjoying the day. They were having a picnic lunch with their Pokemon, a Fletchling. The Fletchling was taking a nap. The two girls were of the same age, both 15. The girl on the left had long blonde hair in a ponytail, blue eyes, wearing a hat with a tiara symbol on it, a pink short sleeved dress with Pokeball imprints on it, white flats, and a white backpack. Her name was Peach. The other girl had short brown hair, green eyes, wearing a necklace with a snowflake on it, purple short sleeved shirt, black caprice, white sneakers, and a purple backpack. Her name was Violet. The two were enjoying their lunch, talking casually.

Peach asked, "So...have you decided yet?"

Violet eyed her friend and questioned, "Decided on what?"

Peach clarified, "On if you want to be a coordinator or not?"

Violet then realized what her friend was asking. While she knew that Peach wanted to compete in gym battles, she still wasn't too sure. She liked contests too. But she liked contests more than gym battles. Before Violet could even respond, the sky suddenly lit up with a rainbow light, gaining their attention.

Peach asked, "What is that?"

Fletching woke up from its nap. There was a strange noise and the next thing the group noticed was two brothers falling out of the sky. Violet quickly turned to Fletchling.

She commanded, "Quick Flapjack, use Gust and bring them down safely!"

Fletching, Flapjack, chirped and flew to the brothers. It then used Gust to make a small wind to slow down the brothers. They landed safely. Both Peach and Violet breathed a sigh of relief.

Peach turned to Violet and commented, "Good job, Violet!"

Violet blushed, "Thank Flapjack."

Peach giggled as she turned to the Normal/Flying type, "She's right, good work!"

Flapjack chirped proudly. Both the girls went over to the brothers.

Violet asked, "Are you two okay?"

Mario got up first and admitted, "We are, thanks."

Luigi was the next to get up, "Uuhh...fratello? W-where are we...?"

Mario looked around. He paled as he got to his feet. "Good question."

Peach told them, "You are in the Kalos Region!"

Mario and Luigi both looked at her, as if she grew another head. Mario helped his brother to his feet.

Violet tilted her head, "Have you two never heard of the Kalos Region?"

Luigi admitted, "N-no...?"

Mario noted Flapjack and asked, "And what is the deal with the bird?"

Peach turned to Violet, who was just as stunned as she was. Peach asked, "Wait, what was the last thing you two were doing before coming here?"

Both of the brothers thought for a minute before Mario answered. He told them, "Well, Weegie and I were fixing pipes in this creepy house in Brooklyn."

Peach and Violet were the ones to look confused now. Luigi stammered, "Uuhh Malleo, I don't think they know where Brooklyn is."

Before anything else could happen or be explained, they heard a voice. "Girls? Flapjack?"

Flapjack chirped, flying over to Andrea, Violet's mom. Andrea commented, "There you two are. You are late to go and meet..." That's when she noticed Mario and Luigi. She stated, "Uuhh girls...? Are these two your boyfriends...?"

The entire group blushed, Mario at Peach and Luigi at Violet. They quickly denied it. Andrea knew better but decided not to push it.

Mario introduced, "I'm Mario and this is my baby brother, Luigi." Luigi waved awkwardly. He added, "We just literally dropped in."

Luigi corrected, "Quite literally!"

Peach turned to Andrea, "This is Andrea Calico and her daughter, Violet." Violet waved, smiling at the boys. She said, "I'm Peach."

Violet stated, "Peach is my best friend slash sister."

Andrea teased Peach, "And welcomed to call herself a Calico."

Peach blushed but anything else was said, Violet saw a good time to change the subject.

She stated, "Anyways, if you two are staying here, maybe you should be Pokemon trainers too."

Peach clapped in agreement, "Yes, I totally agree!"

Mario was confused, "Pokemon trainers?"

Luigi looked at Andrea, "What are Pokemon trainers?"

Andrea explained, "Every kid, at the age of 10 or 11, may go on a journey with a Pokemon. Pokemon are strange creatures with strange powers. Like Flapjack here."

Flapjack chirped, happily.

Mario stated, "Well, Flapjack did save us earlier."

Andrea looked at the sky. While the rainbow light was long gone, Andrea had noted eight different lights, rather briefly. Before she knew it, they were gone.

Andrea turned to Flapjack, "Did you see that...?"

Flapjack chirped as it confirmed what it also saw. Before she could pursue that thought, she turned to the group. She thought, 'Best not to tell them yet. It could be nothing, it could be something.'

Mario asked, "So how do we become Pokemon trainers?"

Peach smiled, "I think the professor can best explain that."

Violet added, "Or Tierno and Trevor."

Luigi questioned, "Friends of yours?"

Peach explained, "Mhm and they work with the professor."

Andrea turned to Flapjack, "Do you think that you can get them to see Tierno and Trevor?"

Flapjack chirped as it took off. Andrea turned to her daughter.

Violet asked, "What is it, mom?"

Andrea answered, "I know you haven't decided on contests yet but I think whatever you decide to do, you will be great at it. I believe in you and Peach."

Violet was in tears as she hugged her mom tightly. Her mom returned the hug, smiling. Violet had to admit, she wouldn't know what to do without her mom. Her dad was constantly working in Lumiose City. Peach had came over to Andrea and Violet.

Andrea added. "You two go with Mario and Luigi. And have an amazing adventure. But call or visit me every once in a while, okay?"

Violet nodded before they each gave her a hug. Andrea returned it. Violet and Peach let go. The two girls went on ahead.

Mario told her, "Don't worry, we won't let anything happen to them."

Andrea replied, "I know you won't."

Mario winked as he and Luigi went off to follow the girls. Andrea didn't understand what was going to happen but she prayed to Arceus that nothing would happen to them.
