Chapter four

Logan's pov

I walked into Ashlyn's room, I grabbed a nearby pillow and started hitting her with it to wake her up "Ugh already" she groaned

"Yup! Your alarm didn't wake you and we have coronation planning to do and I mean tons of it"

I grabbed her hand and helped pull her out of bed "I'll go but come down when your ready I have all the files for things we need to pick out" I smiled and went downstairs

I sat down fiddling with my fingers. I liked Ashlyn's she's my best friend but honestly I want to do normal teen things not this, my grandparents have been raising me for my whole life or as long as I can remember.

Their getting old so I have to support myself with this job but honestly, my real passion is when I get to go up to the castle balcony at night and watch the stars.

But I don't get to do that often anymore
"Okay what do I need to do" My thoughts were interrupted by Ashlyn coming down.

"Well first we need to pick out the colors for everything— like banners and napkins"

"Alrighty what options are there?" "I'll go down to the shops and get the options they have and bring them back" I started heading out but Ashlyn stopped me.

"Ah wait I.. I wanna go out too it's been a while" "Are you sure even after-"

"Yes please just let me come with you"

"Okay follow me"

After a few minutes of chattering while walking to the store, I found it "What napkin colors here do you like?"
"Oh princess please choose whatever your heart desires," the shopkeeper said bowing his head.

"Jeez I'm picking some napkins not buying a home" The princess mumbled earning a small laugh from me

"Hmm, I love this sage green" "Sage green it is!"

Throughout the day we went to shop after shop buying different things we needed I saved the best for last though; cake.

"To be honest I hate all these flavors"
"Again? That's the 3rd shop we have to leave"

"Sorry Logan I know I'm being picky" "Hey it's your coronation okay" I put my hand on her shoulder and smiled

*Sigh* "This is the last bakery in our kingdom so hopefully, you can find something you like here"

We entered to find two people basically identical cleaning up the store "Oh uhm-" I uttered confused

"What do you need? were closed it's almost seven" the boy said sternly
"Oh sorry the sign said open"

"Seriously Taylor? You said you flipped the sign and locked the door"

"Sorry Ty" the girl stopped sweeping to look at Ashlyn and I "Oh hello princess or erm queen?" She looked really confused but excited

She was meeting a queen to be fair "What does it matter there all the same" The guy rolled his eyes at Ashlyn

"Excuse me- you know what we're just here to try cake for my coronation then we'll be on the way" Ashlyn glared at him

"Sorry we're closed" he explained gently pushing me and Ashlyn out of the store
