Chapter six

Ashlyn and Logan walked silently back to the castle until Ashlyn spoke up

"Well that guy was annoying" she laughed "ya" Logan spoke quickly not giving her any attention

"What's wrong Logan?" "I just-" he hesitated a little "I just didn't think about how much our relationship will change when you become queen

"And well I'm scared" "Hey" the redhead put a hand on his shoulder "don't worry you'll always be my best friend"

Logan smiled and The rest of the walk was silent again but not an awkward silence a sort of comforting kind

Aidens pov

I was in the castle parlor sweating my hair off while the Princesses grandma yelled at ha for not being more attentive

I mean sure it's our job but seriously how were we supposed to notice when she left

Finally, Liam and she walked in or was it Lincoln the maids never really specify their names to the guards it's weird honestly

Ah, I got off track sorry "Where have you been young lady? You have a coronation to get ready for and you are out mingling in the streets!"

"With all due respect ma'am  that's what we were doing, we were picking out stuff for her coronation" Liam started (Logan)

"Oh and so Ashlyn is mentally and physically prepared to be queen?" her grandmother continued yelling

What a bore I mean ugh isn't being a royal supposed to be fun "Yes I am" "Oh really Ashlyn" She grabbed a nearby stack of books and placed them on Ashlyn's head

"Let's see your walk" Ashlyn started waking around but her gram gram— I remember my gram gram such a sweet lady

Anyways she kept yelling fix your posture, smaller steps, you walk too loud, more delicately, you get the gist

"Your yelling too loud" Ashlyn winced covering her ears "I don't care! If I knew your father wasn't going to raise you correctly I never would've let him marry a poor commoner"

"Don't speak of my mother that way!"
"I'm sorry I should be wary of the way I speak of her perhaps she may rise from the dead and throw commoners' bread at me"

Ashlyn clenched her fist "I'm going to bed goodnight grandma" I felt terrible that you know I couldn't do more but I didn't want to lose my job

And more importantly, get thrown in jail. these royals do not kid around when it comes to alleged 'disrespectfulness'

Watching  her walk up the stairs all sad hurt me I've only known her for about a year but I still care about her she is our queen after all at least soon

But hey there is nothing I can do
