"You do it," Ron said as he handed her the fang.

"I can't -"

"Yes, you can," Ron insisted as he placed the fang in her hand and closed her fingers around it.

The bone was cold and course in her hand as it trembled, and Ron slipped the trophy from her other hand. He then knelt down as he set the trophy on the ground, water soaking his pants as he looked up at her, the bright gold of the cup the only colour in the otherwise dark, damp and dull Chamber.

Hermione stared at the tiny cup as she lowered herself onto one knee and stared down at the golden object that seemed to know what was coming.

Hermione met Ron's eyes once before she raised her arm into the air. And she brought it down with every bit of strength that she had.

There was a bright light before Hermione suddenly regretted destroying a Horcrux of the Heir of Slytherin inside the Chamber of Salazar Slytherin.

The cup spun away across the stones and towards the skeleton as the water around them surged. It rose up and almost filled the entire cavern as it swirled like a tornado, images of a tortured Voldemort coming into focus before they were washed away.

Hermione hadn't even realised that Ron had grabbed her hand and began yanking her backward as the water rushed towards them before they skidded to a stop and they were doused in the frigid water from head to toe.

Her hair was plastered to her face and her clothes stuck to her skin as she took heavy breaths and her adrenaline came down. The water sloshed back into the pools it came from the sound of water dripping still loud as it echoed off the walls.

She was pushing the hair from her face before she processed what happened next.

Ron still had hold of her hand as he tugged her to him and pressed his lips to hers.
