The door burst open. A posse of newsies burst in, most merely half-ready for the show that started in--I glanced at the clock--15 minutes.
"Elisabeth Mae Jordan!"
I winced. "Yeah, we're not doing the middle name thing, please and thank you."
Jeff chuckled. "I was wondering if you had a moment?"
"Yeah, I've got nothing. Why?"
Corey raised his hand. "Sorry, excuse me, but um, whatever you're going to talk about, can you do it not in my dressing room. I need to change."
"Sorry, Cor."
I grabbed my backpack from the corner I had haphazardly thrown it in when I decided to go on my phone instead of writing my history essay and left the room. The rest of the boys had already dispersed.
"What were they here for?"
"They somehow found out that I had exciting news, and then they were like little magnets."
I raised an eyebrow. "Exciting news, huh?"
He handed me a script.
"Wait- is this about what I think it's about?"
"Elisabeth Jordan, I would like to be the first to welcome you into the cast of Newsies on tour as Sniper."
I am not ashamed to admit that I squealed.
Corey poked his head out the door. "Li's screaming. Either something good happened or there is a spider."
"Something good." I held up my binder. "I got the tour role!"
"Li, that's amazing!"
Our stage manager, Ava's voice, came over the PA. "5 minutes. This is your five minute call. 5 minutes."
Corey re-disappeared.
I squealed. Again.
