Falling in love was something that you were never a fan of. You ran every time you got close to someone.

Hyunjin was patient with you. He slowly worked his way past the walls guarding your heart. Not only that, he held each piece that crumbled and put it aside somewhere that he knew you could "see" it, and use it to rebuild your walls if you so wished.

He started as a caring and loving friend. He also had a dramatic side - almost acting like your gbf (😂). But in the end, he would also start a fight for you in a heartbeat. Hence, why your ex had an injured nose one time...

It didn't take long for Hyunjin to become attached to you. You listened intently to him and remembered the little things about him. You two were almost always seen together, and your friends/classmates/parents figured you two WERE dating.

The first time Hyunjin actually took you on a more date-like outing was at an art museum. That may seem cliche, but he loved the aspect of enjoying two things he loved at the same time. And being able to share moments with you that day made it more special.

It was a fall day, the wind crisp and the leaves turning into technicolor hues. He slung his jacket over your shoulders, your sweater hanging loosely off one of your shoulders.

He gave you a single red rose - seemingly pulling it out of thin air as he spun around and greeted you with a smile on his face.

You never considered when exactly you two became more of a couple - it just happened.

He captured memories in photos, drawings, videos, and any other type of art.

He taught you how to resin the dried rose he had given you on your first date.

You had never actually been with someone long enough for them to celebrate your birthday with you... but Hyunjin - he made it a point to stick around.

And it was by far one of the best birthdays you ever had. 

When you walked into your apartment, your jaw dropped and your eyes widened. The floor was littered with (fake) rose petals and small tealight candles. The air wafted with your favorite scent (insert your favorite scent here).

There were paper footprints on the floor, leading you like a map drawn out. You took a deep breath and walked into the living area.

Hyunjin was seated in a chair - wearing a suit. 

He stood up, buttoning the blazer as he nodded a greeting to you. "Hello, love. Happy birthday." He offered a hand to you, pulling you close and grabbing your waist to place a sweet kiss on your lips.

You kissed him back, a genuine smile crossing your lips.

"I made reservations for us at your favorite restaurant. You have about an hour to get ready," he checked the clock on the wall, his eyes flicking back to you. "I wasn't sure if you were okay wearing this," he continued, as he turned to the table. "But I picked it out to show you."

On the table was a simple dress, heels, your purse/clutch, and simple jewelry... and a small box. You tilted your head at him.

He smiled and picked it up. "Open it. This is my gift to you... Well, one of many tonight," he whispered in your ear.

You blushed and bit your lip, looking away before opening the small box. Your jaw dropped for the second time that night. Inside was a ring with your favorite stone (diamond/emerald/ruby/sapphire). It shone in the dimly lit room, sparkling as different facets of the stone caught the light.

"Oh Jinnie," you smiled up at him, kissing him. "Thank you. You shouldn't have."

He shrugged, winking at you. You laughed, slipping the ring on your finger before you went to get dressed.

Hyunjin has always been constant in dates and being romantic with you. That never changed. Not even during the difficult times - whether you both had a fight, thought you felt out of love, or had a bad day.

And every day you were thankful for that kind of love. Thankful for him. You could only describe it as heavenly.
