"Peyton wait!" Theo was running, trying to catch up with the witch whose nose was stuck in a book she recently borrowed from the library.
It was an Ancient Runes book. Not that she had suddenly grown interested in the subject, she just felt like she needed some extra information or perhaps an extra distraction.
As soon as Theo caught up to her, he grabbed the book from her hand and examined it.
"Ancient runes? Since when were you interested in ancient runes?" Theo asked, his brows furrowed in confusion the moment he saw what the book was about. Peyton despised Ancient Runes ever since he could remember.
She would always talked about how the subject made her dozed off during every classes. She really wished for the teaching method to change because she basically couldn't stand it anymore.
As usual, Peyton was annoyed with his behaviour and casually snatched the book back from his grip. "Since Mother research it.."
"I hate it when you're like this with me" Theo tried his best to get her attention. Peyton could be touchy and flirty around him but she could also act like he wasn't worth a dime as if he was invisible and that truly hurt his pride.
"Look at me!" he added, annoyingly waving his hand in front of her face.
"Why should I? The gum I chew is more worthy than you."
Peyton turned to look at him, finally closing the book she was reading. "Are you, Nott?"
"Stop, don't ignore me."
Peyton sighed heavily as her eyes focused back on the book she had in her hand. "Well who am I kidding, you even told Snape to stop talking once."
"That's a proud achievement of mine," Peyton replied, a small smile crept up to her lips as she remembered the event where she literally ignored how Snape told her that she should stop reading the poem book.
She risked everything for that poem book absquatulate but now she couldn't even remember where it was.
"He was so displeased he sent us to detention," Theo added.
The detention was what brought them together. From enemies to somewhat acquaintances, although they basically tried to hex one another during the detention after Theo pulled her hair. Which Peyton retaliated and decided to use a spell on him and he did the same but luckily none of them were severely injured.
After that incident they actually grew closer and some people shared that they feared of what the two could do to each other whenever they disagreed with one another and moreover with others.
With a snap, your future would just be an imagination you once had if they wanted you to live a life that's miserable. a'
Theo would call it rich privilege and there was no denying of that. Most of the students' parents worked under the powerful Purebloods family and the Purebloods children were spoiled with wealth ever since they were infants.
With just a look of pity from them, they'd get what they want. Even if what they wanted was to eliminate someone's father from a job, they'd succeed.
Peyton grinned as she remembered the old days between the man beside her and herself. She couldn't quite recall what made them hate each other so much but to reminisce about it just made her laugh.
"We used to hate each other so much, remember?" Theo questioned while fixing his Hogwarts robe.
Peyton agreed. "Yes, I even told you to unbirth yourself."
"Is that even a thing?" Theo looked down at his wrist watch before opening the door to the great hall.
"Unbirth."
