Chapter 2

EDDIES POV:

I sit up in my bed, panicking, sweating, it was just an awful nightmare.

I immediately grab my phone and call Buck. He answers almost immediately.

"Eddie what the hell its 4 in the fucking morning!Wait are you okay? Is Chris okay?" he says in that cute sleepy voice of his.

"Yea don't worry we're fine just... I'm sorry I just- I had a dream, well honestly it was more of a nightmare and you died after the lightning strike and well you don't need all of the details. so basically I just needed to hear your voice. " I say rambling on.

"Eddie breathe." Buck says through the phone, "I'm okay because of you Eds. I'm okay. Do you need anything?"

I let out a long sigh of relief, "Thanks Buck, and i'm really sorry I just needed to know you were okay..."

My best friends voice softens, "You have nothing to be sorry about I promise. Now get some sleep we have a long shift tomorrow. Oh and give my favorite Diaz a hug for me in the morning?"

I pretend like I don't know you're taking about my son, Christoper, "I can't give myself a hug Buck." I tease.

"Haha, I meant my little Superman." He says. I can almost hear the smile on his face.

"Yea yea whatever..."

"Night Eds!"

"Night Buck!! And thanks, for everything."

"Anytime."

After we hung up I fell asleep almost instantly. It's crazy how one person can make me fall so deeply in love with them over and over again.

NOBODYS POV:

Everyone was gathered around the table in the fire house while Bobby served his famous home cooked breakfast.

Everyone is staring at Hen who has her nose stuck in a book which is a rare site to see.

"You good there Hen?" Chimney asks her.

"No" you could here the pissed off tone in her voice, "Denny kept us up all night long helping him with his homework, so I had no time for this stupid test I have to take to stay a firefighter."

Everyone nods there understanding except for Mateo Chavez.

"WAIT WAIT WAIT!!" Everyone looks at Mateo confused as he continues, "You have to take a test to stay a firefighter? How often?"

"Oh probie you have so much to learn...but it's every 3 years." Marjan replies while stuffing her face with another bite of the delicious pancakes there captain made.

"That sounds awful!" Mateo groans like everybody just ruined his whole day.

Everyone continues on eating and having their conversations, except for Eddie. He's been picking at his plate for a while but not actually eating anything. He hasn't talked since he walked in the station, and of course who was the first to realize and ask him what's wrong? Buck.

Buck playfully nudges his best friends arm and gives him that stupid smile that Eddie adores so much. "You okay Eds? You're acting a bit off today. If it's about what you told me last night, you know I will keep my mouth shut."

Eddie doesn't say anything at first but then looks at Buck and says, "Three minutes and seventeen seconds Buck..." He then gets up, heads downstairs, and starts going at the punching bag in the workout area.

Everyone looks extremely confused as to why he left, but not as confused as Buck.

'3 minutes and 17 seconds' just keeps replaying in Bucks head until he finally gets up to go ask Eddie. Everyone looks at the two confused, but then continue on with their conversation.

Paul looks at TK and Carlos and bluntly asks, "After you guys...you know...do the deed...do y'all's butt holes hurt?!?"

"Okay I have to get to work..." Carlos, the police officer, stands, kisses TK's forehead and heads out. Completely ignoring Paul's random ass question.

Nancy, Paul, Hen, Chim, Mateo, and Ravi all look very intrigued in what the answer is until Marjan, Judd, Bobby, and Tommy shake there heads in disbelief that Paul asked that.

"You guys are perverted. And kinda." TK smirks and gets up to put his plate in the sink.

"Didn't need to know that son." Owen says while making a semi-disgusted face.

"Sorrrrrrrrrry!" Tk says, but the smug look on his face says otherwise.

MEANWHILE (with buddie):

Buck heads to Eddie who is beating the shit out of the punching bag. Buck stands behind the punching bag and holds on to it. Eddie glares at his friend then sits down taking his boxing gloves off.

"What?" he mumbles.

Buck let's go of the punching bag and sits in front of his best friend. "What did that mean? Three minutes and seventeen seconds?"

Eddie looks up with sadness in his eyes then explains, "That's how long you were dead Buck. That's how long I lost you. That's how long I couldn't save my best friend. That's how long your heart stopped working. That's how long I did everything in my power to bring you back to me..." Eddie blinks and a few tears run down his face, "and I still feel like I lost you Buck."

A few more tears fall from the man's eyes while Buck looks at him in disbelief.

"Oh god..." is all Buck could manage to say.

He brings his hand up to his best friends cheek, wiping away Eddies tears with his thumb.

Eddie's immediately taken back by this and starts to blush a bit. He looks at his best friend and gives him a soft smile that warms Buck's heart.

"You know you didn't lose me Eds..." Buck starts. "i'm still the same old Buck. Besides the incredible math skills!" Buck smiles.

Eddie just nods.

"I know that it's hard still, I do, I still get nightmares from the day you were shot but-"

Eddie immediately gets caught off guard and cuts Buck off, "" You STILL have nightmares about that?"

Buck nods, "Yea...I was so worried about you," Buck blushes and looks to the ground, "and the sweetest part is, when you saw your blood on me when you regained consciousness, you asked if I got hurt. You were worried about me."

Eddie looks at his best friend who is looking at the ground. He grabs Buck's chin making him look up at Eddie who is smiling. Bucks face is a bright pink.

Eddie is finally ready to tell Buck how he feels. He starts, "Of course I was worried about you Buck, I lo-" that very second he gets cut off by the alarm going off. He sighs in frustration and defeat as they run over to get suited up.
