4. Twisted by assumptions

Shoko collects two canned drinks from the pick-up box then goes to sit with Gojo on the long bench in the corridor

"Here", she passes one of the cola to Gojo

"Thanks", he thanks Shoko then pops the can open. "This brings back old memories", Gojo states as he too sips the sweet, carbonated drink down his throat

It's refreshing for Gojo after a long flight back from abroad missions. He has been away for about one and a half months with back to back missions, hopping from city to city getting rid of curses of various grades

Shoko responds to her old friend with a snicker, agreeing. "It's good you are back. The school has been too quiet"

"Speaking of which", Gojo hunches forward. "I understand the students are not around, but what about other teachers? I don't even see Yaga-sensei. And where is Utahime?", he brings the can to his mouth, sipping again

Shoko giggles. "You talk like there are so many people here in the first place", shaking her head

Shoko is not wrong either. If they excluded Yaga-sensei who is the principal, there are only Utahime, Kusakabe and Gojo who teach here

"Anyway", Shoko resumes. "Yaga-sensei is on leave. Oh, and I think you still haven't heard about Utahime-senpai"

"What with Utahime?"

"She will be transferred to the Kyoto faculty next week"

"Suddenly?", surprised

Shoko's nod receives a deep frown from Gojo

"Nah, not really sudden though. The vacancy was open for three weeks because they are short-staffed. So she applied"

"Utahime volunteers to go?", Gojo tips his head

"Yup. The position also offers a better salary, which I support. I mean, Utahime is a good teacher. The offer really complies with her capabilities", she swirls the can in her hand then adds. "And I also think it's good to separate you both, since you two have been hating each other's guts for years"

Gojo's forehead relaxes now. He chuckles. "She is the one who has problem with me"

"You can be handy, though"

"Shoko! You can't be taking Utahime's side too, we are besties", he pouts

Shoko shakes her head. "You should be making babies instead of acting like a baby. Grow the hell up", Shoko comments which pretty much sounds like a complaint

"Hey!", he irks. "But who knows? I might have impregnated someone out there.. or two"

"Ew! Gojo, you sound like a dipshit"

Gojo giggles. "I'm kidding. Kids are too much to handle. Besides, I already have Megumi, remember?"

Shoko rolls her eyes. "I hope you use protection, Gojo. I don't wanna deal with your variants too"

Gojo and Shoko burst out laughing at their silly jokes, not knowing there is another pair of ears eavesdropping to their conversations by chance

Utahime doesn't proceed with her intention to get snacks from the vending machine to satisfy her sweet craving after she sees and overhears Gojo and Shoko together

Gojo and Utahime haven't talked for more than a month, precisely after the day they woke up next to each other. To see him now will be too awkward for Utahime. Hence she returns to her room to resume packing up her stuff she wants to take with her to Kyoto
