"Alastor, my dear," he says as he sits back down. He picks up his utensil to resume eating, but he glances at you first. "Let's not go into details right now amour. That can come after we've finished our meal." His eyes, a shade of deep mystery, hold yours for a moment longer than necessary, leaving you with a sense of intrigue.
You give him a quick nod and resume eating yourself. The rest of the dinner was spent quietly, with occasional glances at one another. It takes a little while for the two of you to finish eating. Now you're in the kitchen washing the dishes as he drys them. There's a comfortable yet unnerving silence. The man, who you now know as Alastor, hums softly to himself. Strangely, you feel like you've never met him before, but he seems to know you all too well. He finishes drying the last of the dishes and turns to you.
"Let's head to the living room, dear. There are things we need to discuss," he says, the last part a little sternly. He, once again, takes your hand, leading you to the couch. You take a seat, and he sits down in the chair. "Now tell me what all you remember exactly."
"Uhm, I remember how to do things like cooking and cleaning. Almost like the autopilot things. But everything else is just a blank," you tell him softly. It frustrates you that you can't remember anything about your life before waking up. Alastor nods at your response, leaning his chin on his hand, deep in thought. His response makes you a bit nervous.
"Tell me, do you remember your name?" he asks, and you freeze in place. It hadn't occurred to you that you couldn't even remember your name. Alastor sighed at your reaction, already knowing the answer to his question. "Your name is Y/N, dear."
"Y/N," you mumble to yourself. Even now, knowing your name doesn't bring up any memories. You let out a frustrated sigh and look towards him. "So, how do you relate to me?"
"Well, I'm your husband, sweetheart!" he chirps. However, he still has an underlying tone of being annoyed.
"Husband?" you repeat back. He's been calling you all these endearing names, but him being your husband surprised you a little. That's something you think you would've remembered.
"Yes, I'm your husband. We've been married for a little over a year now," he states, at least giving you some time frame to work with. "Oh! I can return this to you now since you're awake." He pulls something small out of his pocket and hands it to you. Sure enough, he hands you a wedding band. It's nothing out of this world but a simple band with a few diamonds. You look at it a bit more before he comes over towards you. He takes the ring back and grabs your left hand, slowly sliding it down your finger. This action makes your face heat up again. "I kept it on me because I didn't want it to get lost after what happened."
"What happened?" you ask hesitantly. You didn't know if you should ask, but you need answers. Alastor lets out another sigh and takes a seat beside you on the couch. He still hasn't let go of your hand. He pulls it closer to his face, almost like he is inspecting the ring on your finger. But before you can think much about it, he plants a small kiss on the back of your hand.
"You were visiting me at work and fell down one of the staircases. You hit your head pretty hard. The doctors told me there was a chance you wouldn't remember anything. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but here we are," he quietly says the last part. You could tell that it was a sensitive topic. You squeezed his hand softly, and he returned the action. "But in the end, you're still here with me. I'm very grateful for that."
"What do you do for work?" you ask quietly. You wanted to change the topic because the room started to feel somber, and you also wanted to know more about him. He looks over at you with a small smile.
"I'm a radio host. So I leave for work early in the morning, but I try to come home as quickly as possible," he chirps. His radio host status piques your interest. His demeanor fits the role, making you want to see him in person.
"Will I be able to visit you at work again?" you ask.
"No," he snaps, taking you off guard and making you jump slightly. He notices your reaction and looks over you softly. His thumb making circles on the back of your hand now. He brings your hand back to his lips and kisses it again. "Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. I don't want anything to happen to you again. So, you are to stay here and not go into town."
"When will I be able to?" you question.
"When I feel it's safe for you to do so," he says. You slowly nod your head in understanding. It makes sense. You got hurt, and he doesn't want you to get hurt again. However, being cooped up makes you uneasy. But at least you have him to keep you company. "Tell you what, dear. If you'd like, you can always turn on the radio and listen to my broadcasts. It'll be almost like you're there with me." That puts a slight smile on your face.
"I'd love to do that," you softly say. He smiles back at you. He leads you over to the radio and explains how to use it and what channel he's on. The entire time, he has this happy smile on his face. You can tell he enjoys his work, and seeing him like this makes your heart flutter. You're still on guard, but he's the only person you know; therefore, you must trust him.
"It's getting late, dear. Let's go upstairs and retire for the night," he says, gently leading you to the bedroom. Once getting there, you start feeling a bit antsy. Alastor notices your behavior change. He smiles gently at you. "If you'd like, I can sleep in the spare bedroom tonight if that makes you more comfortable."
"No, that's ok," you stutter, heat rising to your cheeks. Truthfully, it would make you more comfortable, but he's your husband, so it's natural you would share a bed. He lets out a soft chuckle at your reaction. He walks towards the dresser and pulls out some pajamas for himself. He also grabs an oversized shirt and throws it at you.
"You can sleep in this. I need to shower so you can change out here comfortably," he says as he walks into the bathroom. You can hear the shower turn on, and you let out a sigh you didn't know you were holding in. You slip off the blue dress you were wearing and into the shirt he gave you. It reaches about mid-thigh on you. You climb into the bed, and before you know it, you're fast asleep.
Alastor comes out of the bathroom with a towel, drying his hair. He chuckles softly as he notices your sleeping form. He stands there for a while, just watching you sleep peacefully. He slowly slides into the bed beside you and pulls you into his chest. He kisses your forehead softly so as not to wake you up. "Tu es à moi pour toujours ma chérie."
