SALVATORE WAS SIX when his father introduced the siodonna's dancer to him. he doesn't know why his father even did that. hell, he never even knew that his father still remembered that he had a son. with how little of an interaction they had, salvatore doubt that his opinion on what he thinks about his father's lovers can still be counted.

but it seemed that claude still valued his opinion about this matter.

it was the bare minimum, seeing as to how his father was planning on replacing his mother with a commoner; a lowly dancer, too.

he doesn't like it, not one bit. he doesn't like how she introduced herself as diana, speaking about how she is eager to learn more about him. how she will take care of him. salvatore doesn't need her to do that, he had natasha and the other servants of the aventurine palace to do that.

and he absolutely did not like how his father seemed to agree with her words. really, do they really think that he who grew up learning about how much of an amazing person his mother was, will simply accept some woman to be his. . .mother?

unbelievable. but, salvatore can only swallow whatever he wanted to say and just smiled. introducing himself as claude's and rosentine's ─ his mother's name─  son. wishing them a happy afternoon, before going on his merry way.

not even bothering to sit down on the empty chair beside the dancer that was prepared for him. him, the emperor's son, sitting beside a commoner as if they were equal. yeah, he's really starting to grow more and more indifferent towards his father.

don't get him wrong, he does not hold any prejudice about people with different status and upbringing as him. but for him to be called by his father ─who he had only met what? twice? thrice?─and then be introduced to a woman who did not hold a candle to his mother, he believes he had all the rights to be sour.

the disappointment he had was immeasurable. and his beloved nanny can see that very well.

"did something happen, your highness?" she knows something did, their little prince was called by the emperor after all.

"the emperor introduced me to someone earlier, someone who he thinks can sit beside him." the handle of the teapot in natasha's hand cracked, resulting in the rest of the teapot falling on the floor; shattering into many sharp shards.

"oh dear, my apologies. i seemed to have misheard you, your highness." even a servant sees that act to be ridiculous.

"no you most definitely heard me correctly, natasha." salvatore swore that he saw fire slowly rising behind his nanny.

salvatore watches in amusement as his servant tries to calm herself down.

"i apologize, your highness. but please, excuse me for a moment. i have a letter to write. and i shall call someone to clean up the mess that i have made" with that, natasha left his chamber. probably to write another letter of complaint to the iudex of his mother's homeland.

salvatore's lips curl up in a small smile. yeah, with how much his existence affects not just one, but two empires; he definitely knows that the dancer from siodonna will never be able to sit beside him.

she simply cannot do so, even if she has claude wrapped around her fingers.

why is she here? is what salvatore thought. the woman had invited herself to his palace, full of grin and cheeriness. can she not see or feel how his servants' eyes are drilling straight to her soul?

is she that oblivious? or is she just that ignorant?

"what a nice palace you have, your highness!" imagine saying that to a six year old. salvatore doesn't need to imagine such thing, because that exactly what the dancer had told him.

or maybe she's just stupid?

"this belongs to the emperor." the six year old prince spoke bluntly, not even caring to put up an act in front of this woman.

she's dumb, anyways. what difference will it make if i play nice with her? it'll just fuel more to her delusions that she can climb higher than his majesty's bed.

"but still! you take such good care of it!" diana chirped, clapping her hands in delight as she says so.

"i don't. my servants do." salvatore can see his nanny in the corner of his eyes, gripping onto her dress; glaring daggers on the angelic dancer.

"ah, well. . ." diana trailed off, trying to think of anything else to talk about with the prince. in hopes of making the prince like her, or maybe just tolerate her, before she dropped the bomb on him.

"do not beat around the bush. why exactly are you here, siodonna's dancer?" he did not skip his lessons for her to just shower him in unnecessary praises. praises that don't make any sense, too.

"your highness, how do you feel about your father having a wife?" salvatore could've sworn that he heard something snap from outside the room.

"whatever his majesty does, it does not concern me in any way." just a fancy way of saying that he did not give a shit on what his father does.

"he can have multiple wives for all i care, he is the emperor." salvatore added. taking a small bite of the treats that natasha had prepared for him.

"but isn't he your father?! him having a wife will concern you! this wife will be your mother!" salvatore almost applauded diana's enthusiasm for this topic.

"a mother is someone who gives birth to a child. only one woman gave birth to me, thus only one woman can be my mother." he can't believe he's actually having this kind of topic with one of his father's concubines. to someone with common birth, too!

"a mother can also be someone who treats a child kindly and protectively!-"

"dancer of siodonna." salvatore put his fork down, his eyes no longer bearing the look of indifference.

"i appreciate that you care deeply for his majesty, keeping him warm and company. but do not cross the line. do not delude yourself that just because his majesty favors you, i will, too." salvatore stood up from his chair, fixing up his outfit.

"please, see yourself out." with that, the prince left diana alone in the room.

he can only pray that this woman will finally leave him alone.
