SALVATORE CAN SENSE SOMETHING. He doesn't know what it is, but something changed. Other than the fact that he was suddenly moved to a new palace —the palace of the heirs, no else—, he can also feel that the atmosphere around him changed.
The people around him, the servants of his mother and the newly brought ones, they're all tense. As if they are walking on a tightrope. What's wrong, he had asked Natasha after she returned from his father's palace.
Worry not, is all that she told him.
How can he not worry? People around him —namely, the servants his father had brought to him— looks at him as if he's planning a coup d'état. They looked at him with those eyes that melts off his skin.
Salvatore doesn't even have the slightest idea of what he did that results for him to receive such attention; both from the servants and his father.
Oh, and don't even get him started with that knight. The redheaded one. Why is he always here?
I am here by his majesty's orders, prince. The knight said to him as he offers Salvatore a deep bow, one that should show his supposed flattering respect for the prince. But Salvatore instead felt a bubbling sensation in his stomach.
The bow is mocking him. His own head whispered as he looked at the kneeling knight.
He might actually go crazy if these people continue to watch his every step. He felt suffocated under all the eyes watching him. He just wants all of them to leave him alone. Alone in his room, but even he can't have that without that redhead knight —What was his name again? Felip? He forgot already— listening to him breathing through the other side of the door.
Just what exactly is going on.

He finally found out what happened. Salvatore remembered listening through the maids' no-so-hushed gossip. So the dancer's pregnant. Okay, congratulations to her. Now, what does that have to do with him?
Are they scared that he'll try and poison the fetus on her stomach? So he won't have anyone going for the throne other than him? Hm, an interesting thought, but too much trouble.
Diana's really not that special for him to put any effort on.
So what if she's pretty? If she did somehow survive giving birth to the child in her stomach, her beauty will no doubt downgrade one way or another, he heard his mother's old servants' say so —And that's one of the reasons why emperors usually have multiple wives—.
And besides, other than his birth what else ties him to the throne? He doesn't have a name to strengthen his position as heir, so why are these people perceiving him as a threat to Diana's babe?
His father is definitely not affectionate towards him, either. So he really can't see himself capable of taking the throne. And even if he should, he really doesn't want too.
Being an emperor seemed to be too much work. He'd rather stay far away from it and live a long life.
He doesn't want to die early due to stress or assassins, thank you very much.
"My prince, Lady Diana-" Oh god, what does she want now. Salvatore can feel his own patience hanging by a thread.
She is the least person he wants to see right now.
"Wishes to enjoy a cup of tea with his Highness, if he were to allow her that." No.
"Extend to her my thanks for the invitation, but tell her no." With that Salvatore turned his heel, preparing to leave. "And also, assign her a teacher with regards to palace rules. One that will make her remember that a concubine, no matter how favored they are, cannot ask something from someone in the royal lineage."
and left.
Truly, that woman was something else. Is she even a proper concubine yet? Other than sharing his majesty's bed, and that fetus in her stomach, is she professionally recognized as his father's concubine?
Salvatore doesn't remember, he knows he should be aware if she was. Unless his father is that much of an asshole that he's not even allowed to do things he's entitled to.
Well, nevermind that. He cant think about that woman for now, or the fetus in her stomach. What deserves his attention right now is a strategy, of how he can get everyone off his back.
How he can have the freedom of having his personal space back.
Yeah, that's more important than anything else.
