The alleyway was cold and lifeless with the scent of danger in the air. Not only was my detector going crazy but there was something off about this radiation, it was energy I'd never felt before. Reaching a dead end, I began to feel frustrated. ''What's the next move", I thought to myself while trying to get to the next block. I eventually ran out of options and could only think of one thing and that was my supernatural abilities, concentrating a quarter of energy into my legs and taking a slight breath, I propelled myself way up to the rooftop of the building in front of me. The feeling was so amazing, the power surging in my veins felt like it was filling up something inside me. I know I wasn't supposed to use my supernatural abilities but with the way I am, I would never listen to what another man has to tell me and that means I do things my way. There I was on the rooftop entranced by the ocean view that could only be seen from a high position. The sparkling water with a cool breeze, reminds me of the days when mom would show me pictures of her journeys as a teenager. She was always an adventuring type of person who liked to travel to the beautiful coasts just to see a single sunset. I never really understood the point of travelling to see a coastal sunset but nevertheless I also can't judge when I haven't seen it myself. Before I leave this place, I wouldn't mind going to see it. Getting back to my senses, I realised what I must continue and at that moment I began to run forward with a fast and faster pace with the detector in my right hand. Jumping over obstacles, sliding over metal boards and jumping from building to building, I was left with less than a few meters to reach the radiation point.
Reaching the radiation point, below were two men in suites. The first one wearing black shades and the second covering his face with a black hat. "Talk about suspicious", I thought to myself while taking out my camera and preparing to take a picture. As I was about to take a shot something peeked my interest. This wasn't a normal meeting and it seemed like there was an exchange going on, the two men exchanged briefcases and started checking for the contents. One had a large amount of money estimating up to a million dollars and the second had these green crystals that started making my detector readings go off the charts. "I definitely have to take a shot right now", I said to myself while focusing the camera on the two men. Pressing the take button I realised I made a mistake, I forgot to turn off the shutter sound and it made such a loud noise that the two men were staring directly at me. There I was frozen and looking up wondering what kind of Karma this was. Looking back down, one man was gone and the only one left was pointing his pistol directly at me with a look of urgency on his face. Taking the shot was the bullet, a few meters in front of me and time had slowed down. Analyzing the situation I spun and kicked the bullet back while concentrating some of my energy into my right leg. The bullet went back with intense speed and slightly hit the head of the man below. I thought he was going to be scared and run away from seeing all that but to my surprise there he was smiling and started whispering something into his earpiece. I used my skill to read lips and it looked like he was saying something like "we got him, he's the one we've been looking for". More men started appearing from all corners of the alleys below and my radiation detector started buzzing crazy. I knew something wasn't right and had to run. Looking back to start running, I heard a voice in my head telling me to run. It sounded like Rad( the alien voice in my head) but I honestly didn't have the time to try to figure things out. Jumping from building to building I later dropped down to a dark alley and joined a crowd of people walking as I left the alley and entered the main street. I finally lost them and now had to focus on meeting Reda at the hotel entrance, it was almost time.
An hour later
As I approached the entrance of the hotel, my eyes scanned the ornate facade, searching for any sign of Reda. The sun was beginning to dip below the city skyline, casting long shadows across the marble steps leading up to the imposing double doors. There, near the fountain adorned with cherubs, stood Reda, unmistakable in his casual beach shorts and leaning casually against a pillar. I promise with those shorts I could spot him from a mile away. But my attention was quickly drawn to the scene unfolding before him. A woman, striking in her allure, was engaged in conversation with Reda. Her hourglass figure seemed to defy the elegant simplicity of her black dress, and her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders like silk. There was something undeniably suspicious about her presence, yet it was impossible to ignore her magnetism. I stood in silence, uncertain whether to interrupt their discussion. Reda glanced in my direction, his expression was filled with a sense of relief but quickly covered it with a fake smile to not show the woman this expression. "Ah, there you are," Reda greeted me smoothly, his voice low but carrying authority. "I was just introducing myself to Miss..." He paused, inviting the woman to fill in her name. She smiled, a gesture that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Alexandra," she replied, her tone musical yet guarded. "And you must be the one your friend mentioned." I nodded, keeping my composure despite the unease gnawing at me. "Yes, I'm..." I hesitated, realizing I should use the fake name I was given.
"Jeffy Goldberg," Reda supplied, seamlessly picking up the thread of the conversation. "Jeffy, this is Alexandra. She's from an organization called Oxycorp that's famous for its medical expertise." The cryptic nature of his words left me unsettled, but I nodded in acknowledgment. "Pleasure to meet you, Alexandra," I said, extending my hand. Her grip was firm, her touch cool against mine. "The pleasure is mine," she replied with a smile that hinted at secrets hidden beneath her charming facade.
Reda glanced at his watch, a subtle signal that time was of the essence. "Shall we continue inside?" I suggested, my gaze flickering briefly towards the hotel's entrance. As we stepped through the grand doors into the opulent lobby, I couldn't shake the feeling that our meeting with Alexandra was just the beginning of something far more intricate and dangerous than I had anticipated. Honestly something isn't right about this chick and something tells me she didn't travel all the way from her organization to talk about medical help.
