Dear Diary,

I met a woman at the gas station. She stared at me and I stared back at her. Imagine my surprise when I found out she’d be living across from us. I like her confidence and her aura. I think I’ll be getting close to her. Who knows? I might figure out a way to kill Alec through her.

10:00 A.M.

Dear Diary,

I spoke to Alec about the woman. He said he’d met her at the convenience store. She’s on a weekend getaway from New York. Great. That means she’ll be in town for a while. I haven’t had a female company in a while. She and I might get along.

10:00 P.M.

Dear Diary,

Alec is asleep as usual and I snuck out. There are some interesting details I’ve learned from the woman in the house across from us. Her name is Elodie. She has a sister and has lost her mother. She’s grieving. She is not a drinker, but she’s forcing herself to drink. I wonder why. To drown her sorrows? Probably. She owns a boutique and from the looks of things, she’s very proud of it.

     Elodie is full of mystery and I’m curious to know more about her life, specifically her marriage. When the book she was reading slipped, I intentionally picked it up for her. I wanted to know what book she was reading. Immediately I left her house, I searched it up and discovered the book centers on the life of a woman in an abusive marriage. Weird! Why would she read such a book? Unless of course, she was in an abusive marriage too. That explains why she didn’t want to tell me more about herself.

     Elodie is running away from someone. Her husband; I’m certain. I doubt he is on a business trip as she’d told me. She thinks she’s studying me. She has no idea I’m studying her. Now more than ever, I know I have to get close to her. That’s why I invited her over to have dinner with us. Who knows? She might help me kill Alec.
