Olivia pov
I'm currently getting ready to head to the gym to meet my new head coach. I transferred from Villanova to Iowa. Nothing happened, I just needed a change. I arrived at the gym feeling a bit nervous but excited to meet my new basketball teammates. As I walked in, I was greeted by Gabbie Marshall. "You must be Olivia." She says, smiling at me.
"I am." We both talk for a few minutes before she takes me to meet the team. As soon as I walked in, I saw a face I didn't think I'd ever see again.
"Olivia," Kate says, looking at me. I feel my heart beating fast. I didn't know she went here for college. What am I gonna do now? My thoughts are interrupted as my new coach walks out. "Olivia, it's nice to see you again." Coach Bluder says, walking up to me.
"Same here, coach."
"Alright, everyone, this is Olivia Hull, your new teammate. She is a transfer from Villanova. I expect everyone to play nice." When she finishes talking, everyone says their heys introduces themselves and walks away. Kate doesn't even bother to say a word to me and just walks away. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding. My phone starts ringing, and I look down to see Paige calling me.
"Hey P, what's up," I ask her.
"Just checking up, seeing if anything happened." I instantly realize it.
"You knew Kate was gonna be here. Didn't you." I see her face, and it tells me everything.
"I'm sorry, I just thought you'd want to find out yourself, but I just wanted to check up, I gotta go to practice, bye Liv." And she proceeds to hang up before I can cuss her out. I roll my eyes at her stupidness.
I go to walk to my new physical trainer to talk to her.
"Hey Olivia, right?" Annica asks.
"Yes, I was told to talk to you about my knee." She nods and tells me to have a seat.
"Okay, so tell me about your rehab."
"Well, I'm in the 8th month of rehab. It's going well. My knee barely gives me any pain, but I have to constantly work out." She nods and writes down some stuff.
"Okay, well, I will have you come in here every day, Tuesday and Thursday, and we'll do some knee workouts." I nod, and I go to leave her office.
When I'm walking down the hall, I accidentally bump into someone. "Oh, sorry." I look up and come face to face with Kate.
"Watch where you're going, Olivia." She walks past me, and I already know this is gonna be a long season. I go grab my stuff, and I head out to my car. I get a text from Gabbie telling me that a few of them are hanging out at her dorm, and I'm invited. I head home to change into some sweatpants, and I grab my medicine for my knee just in case it gives me pain. I head to Gabbie's dorm room, and when I get in there, I see Caitlin, Hannah, and Kate sitting on the couch.
"Hey Liv, come in," Gabbie says cheerfully. I walk in and sit on the opposite side of Caitlin as far away from Kate as I can get.
"So Liv, why'd you transfer," Caitlin asked. I knew that question was coming.
"I guess I just needed a change," I say. She nods. It seems like my answer was good enough. Throughout the night, I talked with Caitlin and got to know her. She is amazing, I already know that we are gonna be amazing friends. "What movie do you guys want to watch." Gabbie asks. Both Kate and I at the same time saw madea. I look over, and she looks at me but turns away. They turn on madea, and as the movie starts, my knee started throbbing with pain. I get up and head to the bathroom. I grab the small bottle of corticosteroid and the needle and put some in my leg to help with the pain. I hear a knock on the door that makes me jump.
"Liv, are you okay?" I hear Caitlin ask.
"Yeah, I'll be out in a second." I wipe my face and pretend nothing happened. I walk out of the bathroom, and I'm kinda of limping. I am forced to sit next to Kate since Caitlin sat next to Gabbie.
