The crisp autumn air enveloped Taehyung and Jungkook as they walked side by side along the winding paths of the park. The colors of the changing leaves painted a beautiful scene around them, but their minds were preoccupied with the weight of their own thoughts and emotions.

As they strolled along, Taehyung suddenly realized that he had forgotten his gloves, and a chill crept into his fingers. He cursed under his breath, feeling foolish for the oversight. But before he could dwell on it, Jungkook reached out and gently took his hands in his own.

"It's okay, Tae. I've got you," Jungkook said softly, offering a reassuring smile.

Taehyung's heart skipped a beat at the warmth of Jungkook's touch, and he couldn't help but feel a rush of gratitude towards the younger man. Despite the cold stares and disapproving glances from passersby, Jungkook's gesture made him feel safe and cared for.

But as they continued their walk, Taehyung couldn't shake the unease that lingered in the back of his mind.

The stares and whispers of the people around them served as a constant reminder of the society they lived in - one that was not accepting of their feelings for each other.

Two men, holding hands in public, was seen as scandalous, and Taehyung couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for subjecting Jungkook to such scrutiny. Jungkook and him weren't even lovers.

"Maybe we should let go," Taehyung suggested quietly, his voice laced with uncertainty. "We're causing a scene."

But Jungkook tightened his grip on Taehyung's hand, refusing to let go. "I don't care what they think, Tae. This is our moment, and I want to hold onto it," he replied, his eyes filled with determination.

Taehyung was suprised by Jungkook's boldness, but he couldn't deny the warmth that spread through his chest at his words. In that moment, he realized just how much Jungkook meant to him, and he felt a surge of gratitude for having him by his side.

They walked in silence for a while, each lost in their own thoughts. But eventually, Taehyung found the courage to speak up.

"Jungkook, there's something I need to tell you," Taehyung began, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jungkook turned to him, concern etched on his face. "What is it, Tae? You can tell me anything."

Taehyung took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he was about to say. "I'm engaged," he confessed, the words tasting bitter on his tongue.

Jungkook felt as if the ground had been ripped out from under him, his heart sinking at Taehyung's revelation. Mixed emotions swirled inside him - disappointment, heartache, betrayal - but above all, there was an overwhelming sense of sadness.

"I...I didn't know," Jungkook mumbled, his voice barely audible over the rustling of the leaves.

Taehyung reached out and gently squeezed Jungkook's hand, offering him a small, sad smile. "I just thoughts... I wanted to tell you. You are my best friend"

But Jungkook shook his head, a determined look in his eyes. "Thanks, you're my Best friend too Tae" he said, his voice filled with conviction.

And as they continued their walk, hand in hand, they both realized the lie they just told.
