A/N: I hope you enjoyed the first chapter! Hoping to push this chapter out before state testing begins... argh

Also if you are wondering why I didn't describe what Robert looks like, it was intentional. You get to choose! Well, except for a few things such as the fact that he will eventually grow a beard.

=---=

You wake up as a beam of pure unfiltered concentrated sunlight shines right on your face through your side of the window. You covered your eyes with your hands, but what good will that do? You'll have to get up eventually, and the more time you spend sitting down and 'sleeping' the less time you have to set up a base of operations as well as the proper necessities for survival on a desolate, barren planet like Copper 9.

After all, the instructor dude said that this was a test to see whether humans could survive on this planet with limited resources, so using logic and reasoning, you made an educated guess that this planet was dead.

Which turned out to be true. And that would be a problem because there would be no way to get some food and materials required to survive. Like, wood for example. And you were SURE that all the remaining wood stored away in warehouses would have rotted away by now.

Maybe you'd get lucky with some creosote-treated wood, but there wasn't any promise. And to properly thrive, you'd have to find a way to melt and form metal into various shapes and sizes. But that was locked behind the question if you could survive here in the first place.

You sighed and got up and out of the seat. Robert wasn't in his seat, and you heard noises coming from the other compartment, so you assumed it was him.

You walked into the storage area where you found Robert sorting and organizing your supplies and belongings.

"Hey," you yawned as you greeted him. He gave a small wave and continued to go back to work. "Think we should test whether we can breathe the air outside or not?"

"It's not a bad idea, but don't you think that's kind of dangerous?" Robert asked.

"Well, you could just pull me back into here if things go wrong," you said.

Robert thought for a moment, before agreeing.

"Sure, but first let's decide what to do today."

You stood there, thinking about today's plans. It would have to be packed with different tasks and activities, since the amount of oxygen remaining in the spacecraft would only drop by the minute, after all. After a few minutes of stalling and thinking, you spoke up.

"Okay, I thought about today's tasks. Tell me if you agree or not, okay?" You told Robert.

"Sure, Y/N," he responded.

"First, we need to do the air quality test, and if things go right we should head out to search for some wood to heat some food in. Probably should find a good spot to set up our camp, as well. And then if we have time we need to find some seeds and try to grow them," you said.

Robert nodded.

"Yeah, but if the air outside isn't good, then how will we both go out? We only have 1 gas mask," Robert asked, curious about how you would solve this problem.

After thinking for a little while more, you came up with an idea.

"We play rock-paper-scissors and whoever loses has to duct tape a gas mask filter in front of their mouth as a makeshift respirator," You said.

"Okay, Y/N, let's do that, but let's check if we even need the gas masks in the first place." Robert gestured towards the hatch. He grabbed a gas mask and held it up to his face.
