Jisoo's P.O.V
"Thanks Hansol." As he handed me my uniform. Three more hours to go till this crappy job ends.
"Mmhm."
If you wanted to know how I got this job, I used to go to this library when I was in middle school; after school on rainy days, or when it was summer break and when we had projects that we had to do. Sometimes I came to BookStore to read for fun because I was just too engrossed and fascinated about the amount of books that they had.
I met Hansol at the library when he was about 14 and I was 16. I remember him getting scolded by Mrs. Lockhart because he was too violent typing 'moves' on the library computers by playing 'Mortal Kombat'. After he got scolded, I don't know why but I walked over to him and asked what happened. He basically ignored me and went to the tables and play with his PSP alone instead. But after an hour or so, he came to my table, saying that he was sorry for his past actions. That's basically how we became friends, and now we're inseparable (I know, its really cliché).
BookStore isn't an old, oaky, small kind of library. It's actually okay. It opened in 2009, when I was in eighth grade. They renovated stuff when it was 2011, and it looks brand new. It still does, until now.
What made me and Hansol work here is because we both want to save money, and make money ourselves to go to Korea. Hansol actually looked up K-Pop. KPOP! and he noticed that all of those people go and audition to their choice of management. He thought it was a great idea to save money and go to Korea and audition since I just discovered that he liked, I mean LOVED to rap (he told me when he was 14 but I think I forgot until he reminded me a year ago), and I loved to sing. He promised me that we would go to the same management; which made me really happy.
______________"Jisoo! can you go arrange the fiction row alphabetically? thanks." Hansol said, or kind of begged since he was probably too lazy to arrange those books alphabetically and he always wanted to be the one in charge of the counter.
"Sure."
As I was about to arrange the fiction books in the second floor (yes, that's how many books they have), I saw a girl sitting in between the rows, reading. She was wearing a black shirt, and her hair was pretty short; by looking at her from the back. I realised that I was looking at her- staring at her back features until she spun around and looked at me; us both meeting gazes.
"Uh..." I began fidgeting. This was my first time being so awkward with a person. especially, a girl.
She didn't reply anything as the situation between us was too fragile. So she just turned around and continued reading. Thank the heavens that she turned around because my palms were starting to sweat.
And so I began arranging the books. The girl was at the left side, so our distance was pretty far. I usually start arranging books from the right top shelf since thats where A starts. I was now at C.
That girl. That girl. She looked so mysterious. When she turned around, I saw the name of the book that she was reading. It was If I Stay by Gayle Forman. beside her was a John Green book. It had a big pin on the front. I don't read John Green books, but I know that he's the author of The Fault In Our Stars.
"Why do you keep on staring?" She quietly said. She talked to me. To me. She talked to me because I was staring at her and she caught me.
"Uh... I... Um... Was just wondering if you were borrowing those books." I tried to reply confidently but it was clear that I failed because she chuckled then looked up at me.
"Well, I--um.. I own this...If I Stay, but i'm planning on borrowing Paper Towns." The girl's lips started to form a smile and I couldn't help but look away. Was I blushing? was I even doing my work?
"Oh! that's good..." I awkwardly said as I went over to the letter G and continued my work. When the girl looked up at me, I immediately knew that she was younger than me. Not too young though. She had beautiful eyes, making me wonder if she put makeup or not.
"So, whats your name?" I asked very slowly. This time, she stood up. She was two heads shorter than me. The black shirt that she wore was oversized making her look so small; smaller than she is.
"Y/N. You?"
"Jisoo."
"Nice meeting you... Jisoo. Who works in the public library." She said it in a confused way but started laughing after, covering her mouth. Her actions made me laugh with her. She was cute.
"Jisoo," She started saying my name. She did it so naturally, like we were friends since day one. "Since when did you work here?"
"Since two weeks ago. With Hansol. My co-worker slash best friend who's working at the counter."
She looked over at Hansol from above at the first floor, who was listening to music, bobbing his head up and down while mouthing out the words. We both laughed at his silly actions.
"Well, I have to go borrow this book now... So... I'll see you?" Did she want to see me next time?
"You'll see me when?" I teased. And she laughed.
"4:00 afternoon, this place, everyday. Yes; I know, everyday." She laughed at herself because it sounded that she wanted to really see me soon. Or maybe tomorrow.
"Okay." I replied, smiling.
"So... Bye? I guess?" And as she said her goodbye, she started going down the stairs.
I mentally thank Hansol for making me arrange the books because I got to meet her, I defiantly wanted to see her again.
