"Are you saying that you are against this marriage?" Frank pointed out.
"Exactly.." Lea said. Then she left Frank from the couch, never wanting to hear anything from him.
Two days from the night that Lea walked out of the living room from Frank, she has no regrets. She planned on staying as far away as possible from her new husband and the oversized bed that dominated the master's bedroom. She sleeps in her son's room.
This morning, the family enjoyed their breakfast together. While Anne smiled carrying a bowl of leafy dessert for the family. She placed it in the center of the table, and sat behind Andrei.
"Tita Anne, I have new toys. Papa gave it to me last night, let's play after this."
"Sure darling.." Anne whispered in a soft voice near his ear.
"Papa, my birthday is coming. I wanted you to know my wishes in advance"
"Good to know that. What is it?"
"Would you promise to give it to me?" Andrei asked his father. Frank never removes his eyes on his son while the conversation is on.
"Anything. I promised" Frank would stop eating and be ready to listen to his son.
"I wanted to have a little brother." Andrei's voice out. Lea who was chewing her food choked after hearing what Andrei said.
"Mama are you okay?" Andrei's little concerned voices.
"Yes, I'm fine.." Lea answered after she immediately drank the glass of water behind the table.
"I knew it, your mama and papa are working for that," Anne added her words to the conversation. Andrei looked at her with his gentle smile.
Frank watched Lea drink the cucumber juice with lemon, noticing how she hesitated to be near him. He wasn't a man to force any woman against her will and especially not his wife. But he can't deny the fact, that all of these years, he really missed Lea.
"Good boy.. you must eat a lot. Papa will buy another toy" Frank told his son.
"Yey!"
During the evening, Frank attempted to reach out to Lea via phone call, however, Lea made a conscious decision to ignore the call as she recognized it was Frank trying to contact her. Instead of engaging with Frank over the phone, Lea opted to pay a visit to Andrei in his room, leaving her phone behind in the living room.
"Lea, your husband called me. He wanted to ask what Andrei's favorite color is, so I told him it was sky blue, like that."
Lea nodded. Then Anne returned to the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" Anne found Lea putting a plastic envelope to the table.
"I am actively seeking employment and do not wish to be financially reliant on Frank."
Lea responded as she fastened her watch onto her wrist. "Andrei is sleeping in his room. I'll be back later""Be careful" Anne said as Lea left her in the living room.
Lea, a single mother, has always made it a priority to save money for her son. However, now that she has reunited with her ex-boyfriend and they are now married, her focus on financial independence has not wavered. Lea remains determined to be a financially independent woman for the sake of her son's future.
"Why should I accept you?" An interviewer said.
"Honestly, I can work even under pressure. I will help the team to finish the task as needed." Lea replied.
The conversation didn't take long hours, like one blink of an eye. The job interview at a particular company concluded swiftly. Upon arriving home, Lea concealed her disappointment from Andrei, realizing that she had not succeeded in securing positions at any of the three stores she had interviewed earlier.
