Chapter 2: Aurora

~Chapter 2~

"How was your first day of school?" My mom asked. "It was good. I made a new friend! His name is Midge and he's really nice!" I exclaimed. "You better be careful young missy! There are a lot of bad people out there." My father said not taking his eyes off of his newspaper. "But dad! He's really nice!" I reply. "I was just saying to be careful."

"Bunyon how was your day?" Mom asked. "It was fine..." He mumbled. "Did you do anything exciting?" "Yea I guess, can I go for a walk?" He asked. "Yea sure just be back in 20 minutes." My mom replied.

I watched my brother get up from the table, grab his jacket, slip on his shoes and walk out the door. But I noticed something. When he grabbed the doorknob his hand was shaking. Plus Bunyon was always in a good mood when it came to school! He always would love to try out the new magic tricks he was taught. But today he didn't even want to talk about it! "Mom can I be excused?" I ask and she nods her head. I stand up from the table and walk upstairs to my room. When I closed my door, I immediately run to my window. I opened it up and saw Bunyon speed walking to the forest. In the forest there are many dangerous things that can kill you! The only reason we don't get attacked is that there is a huge circle around the places and the monsters can't get in. But Bunyon barely knows any magic. He will be surely killed if he met up with a monster! But there are also good creatures in the forest. But the ones that can save you from a monster are very rare.

I write a quick note, open the window and hop out. I walk carefully across the roof and finally jump onto a tree nearby. CRACK! I feel the branch break and I tumble but before I hit the ground I'm caught in another branch. A more sturdy one. Ow... I slowly climb down the tree, trying not to put all my weight on each branch. I jump onto the ground and start jogging after Bunyon, but not trying to be seen. He turns a corner and I stand up against a house. I take a deep breath, turn myself around and run behind the building. Then I run into something and the impact made me fall. I looked up at my feet and it wasn't a something... It was a someone... It was Midge!

"Midge what are you doing here!" I ask while standing up. "Following me brother. What are you doing here?" He says while standing up. "Wait you have a brother?!" "Yea!" "Oh I'm following me brother! He went into the forest!" I exclaim. "Same with mine. Maybe there up to something. Lets go after them!" Midge says. "Good idea." I agree.

Midge and I run to the edge of the circle and look at each other with doubt. No one is allowed to cross the circle without their COM (certificate of magic). It's forbidden! So why is Bunyon doing it? We nod at each other and step outside the circle. A huge blast of wind hits me in the face as a laugh. I've never been out here before. I look to midge and he's laughing to!

"Oh no! We're gonna get in so much trouble!" I joke. "Hahaha!" Midge laughs but gets cut off.

ERM ERM ERM ERM ERM ERM

Midge and I exchange looks then figure out whats happening. "Clover! The monster siren is going off! They think we are the monsters!" Midge yells while covering his ears. I nod my head in agreement and we turn around to go back into the village but huge rock solid walls are moving upward. "Quick midge! We need to eat over!" I yell. We jump on the walls trying to get a grip but its no use.

"I thought they have cameras! They should know we are leprechauns and we are not monsters!" I babble out. "I know! Wait there's a camera there! Wave to it!" Midge says while pointing to the top of a tree.
