The sound of your mom's phone ringing woke you up. You must have fallen asleep after your nightly mother/daughter talk last night. She let go of the protective hold she had you in so she could answer it. 

"Tree? Whats going on? Why are you calling so early on a Saturday?" 

Taylor barely got the words before Tree excitedly told her the news that had been circulating around all night. "You haven't been on social media? Tree asked trying to maintain some tone of professionalism. "Someone leaked the phone call with Kanye...and the public believes you now."

Your mom sat up in bed and took a breath trying to process everything. That year was difficult for both of you. Taylor was basically forced out of the music industry, and worst of all you her daughter was dragged in the middle. When people found out at school they bullied you in person and online badly enough to the point where the police had to get involved and your mom had to pull you out of school. Even though the world apparently believes your mom now it's just not enough to make up for what it did to you both.

"thank you for calling me Tree, I appreciate it," Taylor said. "And Tree I don't know how you did it but thank you for finding the real phone call and 'leaking' it," she added. 

"I don't know what you're talking about," Tree replied. "Enjoy your weekend Taylor," your mom wished her publicist the same before hanging up to focus on you. "Good morning, sunshine," she smiled giving you a kiss on the forehead. "That was-"

"Tree, the whole phone call was leaked I heard," you replied sitting up next to your mom. You could see the relief in your mom's eyes, but she also still looked sad and you felt exactly how she looked. 

"This doesn't make up for the hell the world put us through," you said stubbornly. Taylor's heart clenched with guilt. "I'm sorry you got dragged into the middle of everything sweetheart, I really am," Taylor said. For most of her career your mom was pretty successful at shielding you from the negativity but this was a time she couldn't stop you from having to leave the only school you'd ever gone too your entire life. 

"It's okay mom, it really wasn't your fault," you said. "I mean I hate that I lost so many of my friends, but I guess they were never my real friends anyway," you added.

"The way you feel is completely valid," sweet girl. I haven't completely forgiven everyone either."

"And you know as shitty as that year was at first it wasn't all bad," Taylor reflected. "We got to live in a whole other country and we became even closer than we were before," she added.

"That's true," you shrugged before climbing into her lap something you'd been doing since you were a toddler. "Which is saying something cause we've always been pretty close," you said happily laying your head on her chest. "I remember falling in love with London also. I still miss living there sometimes you," you added nostalgically. Sure you still had your town house but you and your mom had since moved back to Nashville where you grew up. 

"That year also led to some of the best years of my life," said Taylor. "I have so much to be thankful for. You most importantly, the rest of my family, my friends who stuck by me, my incredible fans, Joe...i'm happy," she said kissing your forehead. "Well I've always been thankful for you sweet girl."

"You too mom," you replied giggling.

"Which is why I think we should stay right here in bed today," Taylor suggested. "No more phone calls, no social media, just me and my little girl."

"Sounds great mom, but I'll probably get hungry eventually," you joked.

"Then I'll make you as many chocolate pancakes as you'd like," Taylor said kissing your forehead. "For now we can watch whatever TV show or movie you want."
