𝙎𝙄𝙇𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀 existed in the numb world of darkness that my mind was trapped in. Not a sound penetrated through the thick veil of blackness that coated my absent vision. My senses lost in the tiredness that prevailed in my body. I seemed to float aimlessly in the abyss I was so familiar with, engaging in an unending game of eye contact, so much so that I was beginning to think the darkness reciprocated my actions.

When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you.

That's what an old saying told, and I started to believe in its hidden philosophy. I didn't know how much time passed while I was trapped in this soulless prison. Was it hours? Days? Or even weeks? I didn't know. My sense of time was gone, as was my sense of touch, smell, hearing... I was in a state of paralysis when a soft light seemed to penetrate my darkness. A light that warmed my body in this freezing cage of nothingness.

So soft that I believed I was transported in what they called heaven, and warm, like I was wrapped in a long forgotten tender embrace.

I never thought this feeling existed.

It was addictive.

A sudden thought came to my tired mind. The only feeling close to that was a product of her doing. Could this be...?

Then the slight pulse I felt coming from my forefinger seemed to give the answer to my question.

It truly was.

The light seemed to take form. First came four small paws, then its body, a fox like head and last a tail that started to separate into nine equal parts, opening like a peacock's majestic plumage. A Kitsune.

Was this what her tales that seemed to come out of fiction entailed? A snow white Kitsune always coming to her rescue when she was the most vulnerable... Was it all really true?

The mythical creature lacked the details of a being. The only visible part of it was its unique shape of a fox with nine tails. Was it because it shone so brightly that my eyes were deceived or because I was not deemed worthy of truly looking at that being? I couldn't tell, my mind too tired to process the miracle in front of me.
