It was after Shredder's death when the two were reunited again, Karai could hardly believe it was her. When she saw her, she started to remember all the times when she had failed her....

...

She was nine years old when she first met her. To say she was furious was an was an understatement. She was pissed. Beyond pissed. Shredder had said that he loved his mother more than anyone and that there could never be another...but there was another.

Karai had been practicing her kata when Shredder came in with a little girl in his arms. At frist, Karai thought she was a new student or something but when she looked into her eyes, she was completely aback that they were so much like her father's. Black as a deadly Falcone's. She also had long brown wavy hair.  What her father said next only confirmed her suspicions, "Karai, this is Pimiko. Your new sister."

Karai was speechless as she felt rage entering her heart, feeling like her father had betrayed her mother as well as her for keeping this from her. Why was she only now meeting her? Shredder must have noticed her rage because after he sat Pimiko down, he took her to a separate room to talk with her privately. He assured her he still loved her mother and explained that he had been taken advantage of by an assassin who was Pimiko's mother, and only found out recently that she existed. He said that he had 'saved' Pimiko from her whore of a mother. Karai found it hard to believe that her father, a master ninja, could be tricked so easily by a nobody assassin but did not question it further. She learned a long time ago that the less she knew about Shredder's personal life, the better. So, she believed him and went to Pimiko to show her around, without saying a word to her.

She shoved Pimiko in her room when they arrived and turned on her heels to retire for the night. A couple hours later, she heard whimpering in her room and someone lying beside her bed. However, instead of kicking the intruder out, she threw her a pillow and warned her to be quiet so their father would not hear.

...

Weeks later,

Her first day of training, their father had them challenge against each other. Pimiko did surprisingly well in the beginning, showing that she has been trained before but even so, she could not compete with Karai who defeated her in a matter of minutes. Usual she would be proud, mocking her sparring partner and she would have...if she did not twist Pimiko's wrist when she tried to escape, resulting in her breaking it.

She had screamed, collapsing on her knees and clutching her limp hand to her chest. If it was anyone else, Karai would not care but Pimiko was so young, so small, she still had baby fat and because of that, she felt so much guilt as she knelt beside her, in a panic voice whispering for only her ears to hear. "You ok? I didn't mean to."

Pimiko raised her head and pried open her eyes to stare at her, but her eyes went from pain to fear, and it only took the shadow looming over her to realize what she was afraid of. "Karai," A deep voice said, and Karai jerked on her feet, trying to school her worry features to natural as she turned to him. Worry and other sentimental emotions were weakness in the Foot. If she showed any care towards Pimiko, she would be displaying weakness and lose everything that she has earned, and that was one risk she could not take.

"Yes, Father," she said in a steady, firm but respectful tone. She could not see it but she could tall that he was smiling at her as he put a hand on her shoulder, trying her best not to flinch. "You did very well, my daughter. You are well on your way to becoming a flawless warrior," Karai bowed her head, casting a side glance over to Pimiko as she glared up at her through her pitiful display. A pain of guilt stung Karai's heart, knowing that she just sent this poor girl to undoubtable punishment for her failure, and Pimiko knew it too. She may not know Shredder yet, but she knew him well enough to know that physical punishment was often given every time someone fails him.
