A Sight For Sore Eyes

"Bloody hell," Allegra muttered as she trudged up the deserted road toward the lonely bar that sat in the corner.

She pushed open the door and was immediately assaulted by the metallic scent of blood. Bodies upon bodies lay strewn across the floor, decapitated heads and chests split open revealing empty sockets. In the corner, a blonde with impeccable fashion sense stood wiping her hands off with a nearby towel.

"Well, this is quite an entrance here, Rebekah," Allegra remarked, surveying the gruesome scene.

The blonde spun around, her eyes wide with surprise as she quickly vamp sped over to Allegra. She grabbed Allegra's throat and pinned her against the wall. "And who the bloody hell are you?"

Allegra smirked, unperturbed by the display of strength. She took Rebekah's hand and pried her fingers off her throat, staring into the girl's eyes. Her own eyes turned a fiery ember of red and orange, reflecting off Rebekah's blue ones.

"A-Allegra?" Rebekah stuttered, slowly lowering her hand in shock as all the locked memories over the years came back to her.

"Well hello there, Bex. Long time no see, am I right?" Allegra said, a hint of amusement in her voice.

Rebekah's expression softened as recognition dawned on her. "Allegra... what are you doing here?"

"And you're sure they're there?" Allegra asked the witch, pacing back and forth in anxiety.

"I am positive. I have had multiple informants tell me they have taken a liking to the city," Cecilia, the witch, assured the vampire.

Allegra sighed heavily as she finally took a seat, looking up at Cecilia with teary eyes. "Who would have known I was so close to them? To Elijah."

"In your defense, ma'am, they have not been the easiest bunch to track. You also had your... own demons to worry about," Cecilia replied sympathetically.

"I know. That's why we left New Orleans for England," Allegra said before jumping up from her seat, determination in her eyes. "But I am ready to go back. Cece, find the next ship to New Orleans. It's time I am reunited with my family."

Cecilia nodded, bowing before quickly exiting the room to follow her orders. Allegra fidgeted with the gold-plated ring on her finger. The first one was her engagement ring, a simple gold band with a small but beautiful diamond on the front. The second one was her wedding ring and by far her favorite. It was also gold like her other one, but in place of the diamond was a blazing ruby that never seemed to lose its shine. On the inside, carved just for her to see, was the phrase the Mikaelson family had for each other: always and forever.

Cecilia hastily returned to the room, bags behind her, as she addressed Allegra. "We leave by dawn."

"Land ahead!" The captain's voice boomed, his eyes trained on the outline of the shore in front of them.

Allegra's excitement was palpable, but nerves began to creep in as well. It had been centuries since she had seen Elijah, and all that time had been devoted to finding him. While also keeping herself safe...

Cecilia quickly approached Allegra, snapping her out of her daydreaming. "What I have learned is that the Mikaelsons are throwing a masquerade ball."

"Any particular reason?" Allegra asked.

"No, apparently they throw parties just because they can."
