"Because these things will change"

"How do you feel about that?" Taylor asked Eden. It had been a crazy week for the both of them. A definite adjustment for everyone. For Eden she hadn't ever felt the feeling of being loved, cared for, and just in general not being neglected and abused. Taylor hadn't known what to do originally but was slowly adjusting to being responsible for a young girl. Especially a little girl who felt like she was always walking in egg shells, afraid she would make one misstep and Taylor would beat her.

Eden just shrugged her shoulders, moving her head to the side. It was morning, they had both woken up a bit ago. Eden had been up for about an hour before then but she wouldn't tell Taylor that. She had been plagued by nightmares for as long she could remember, her sleep was always restless. She stared at her plate with eggs that Taylor had made for her. She was forever grateful to Taylor for doing this for her.

"Eden, sweetie, I'm going to need you to answer me babe." Taylor replied gently, taking a sip from a coffee cup.

"S-Sorry," Eden stuttered, her big sea green eyes staring into Taylor's.

"Hey, we don't need to be nervous. Ok. I just want to make sure you're comfortable with it." Taylor said gently, brushing a stray hair out of Eden's face.

"Ok," Eden mumbled shyly.

"I don't know your mom though."

"Do you want to meet her? Don't do it for me, do it for you," Taylor said softly, trying to sooth the little girl who was obviously stressed.

Eden had gone through different patterns for the past five days she'd been with Taylor. She'd started off very closed off. Her walls built up high making very little room for Taylor to break them down. Gradually Taylor was paving her way through to Eden's heart. The few moments Eden had been carefree, unattached from the burdens she carried in her shoulders, had been joyful. Taylor would do anything to hear the little girls laughter.

"She's important to you." Eden stated quietly.

"Very important, but you know who's also important?" Taylor said with a smile.

"Who?" Eden asked curiously her eyes big.

"You," Taylor replied, her eyes twinkling.

"No way!" Eden almost exclaimed looking at Taylor seriously.

"Yes way, silly," Taylor answered widely grinning, reaching her arms out to tickle Eden.

"No, she's your mom, she's the most important," Eden responded beaming up at Taylor, her hands reaching out as Taylor picked her up.

"She's my mom, she's super important but you're also very important," Taylor said caressing Eden's hair as she laid her head on Taylor's shoulder.

"And your feelings are important, Ok?" Taylor added.

"Ok," Eden replied her voice muffled by Taylor's sweater.

"Do you want to meet mom soon?" Taylor asked weaving her fingers through Eden's hair.

"Yes please," Eden answered wrapping her arms around Taylor's neck.

"Thank you for telling me pretty girl." Taylor said putting the little girl back on the chair.

"No, Thank you, Taylor," Eden replied giving Taylor a hug which she happily returned.

Eden returned her attention to the breakfast in front of her,

"Ok missy I have another question for you," Taylor said to Eden looking up from her phone.

"Yeah," Eden responded tilting her head.
