The scent of fresh baked pastries always comforted you. You loved baking and designing such baked goods as a child, so you found a small shop in Virginia to create a business achieve your dream.

You took an abandoned building to a decently popular bakery. You were proud of it, always happy to sell and customize desserts for your customers.

Though there was one customer who caught your eye. He had shown up practically everyday, always at the same time.

A tall, brooding, but attractive older man.

The first time he showed up was on Valentines Day, one you remember vividly. You had practically gone crazy scrim baking bundles of heart shaped cookies, cakes, and cupcakes. When he arrived only asking for a coffee and a muffin, he stood out to you.

The next day he showed up, same time, for the same order. Creating a routine, until halfway through, he started asking for a coffee and a new pastry each visit.

It became a game almost by trying to create unique pastries for him. And within this game, you two slowly began to open up to each other. Instead of quickly grabbing his items, he would stay for 10, 20 minutes, or even 30 minutes on the weekends.

It became your favorite part of the day, creating new desserts for him and hearing new stories from him.

Hotch opened up to you about his job, telling you stories about each case he worked. In return, you shared any anecdotes about customers, random thoughts, or simply stuff about yourself.

For you, you were always fascinated hearing them, always eager to hear a different case each time he was willing to share one.

For him, he got to see your reactions, how interested you were, and how you always listened intensely to each word he said.

Over time with each of his visit, you began to grow strong feelings for him. You were so head over heels for him that seeing him became the highlight of your day.

Days he was working on a case felt longer, and days he was there storytelling felt like heaven to you.

Then the next valentines arrived.

From the beginning of February, you began planning out the best way to confess your feelings to him.

It was the day betore Valentines, and you were nervously making his gift.

You created a whole box of chocolate, a letter containing your feelings, and a box of muffins, the same kind that he first ever bought.

You worked so hard that when it came time to you sleep, you couldn't. You felt like butterflies butterflies were in your stomach, the same gut feeling of a drop on a rollarcoaster.

You stayed awake, daydreaming about all the possibilities of what could happen until you felt your eyes grow heavy.

💌 Valentines Day 💌

You woke up to the sunlight in your eyes, and an anxious feeling. You got ready in a ( favorite color ) dress and did your hair accordingly.

The bakery was crowded with customers rapidly buying heart shaped desserts. Hotch always arrived early, so you anticipated each minute that passed.

Till the Sunset passed, and you needed to close your shop.

You were disappointed, his schedule wasn't an actual schedule, usually fluctuating. Even still you were upset from planning it all out only to be let down.

You left the door unlocked, focused on packing leftover desserts.

Ding!

" Oh sorry! We're closed already. Maybe come back tomorrow?" You called out without taking a glance behind you .

"Actually I was hoping we could speak now while I have time to."

Your shoulders tensed at the sound of his voice. You placed whatever was in your hands back on the counter to turn around to see him standing with a bouquet of ( favorite flowers), and a box of chocolates.

" Hey!" You greeted him overall enthusiastically with an accompanying bright smile. " I was wondering if you were gonna show up at all today."

He grinned, and spoke with an apologetic tone. " I know, I'm sorry. I was too caught up with files and all the boring stuff. I tried to hurry and finish everything so I could make it over here to see you."

" But I hope these help make up for it." He gestured at the items in his hands. He walked closer to you, your heart pounding with each step he took.

" I remembered you mentioning ( favorite flowers) and why you loved them so much." he handed you the bouquet.

" And of course some chocolate" He added on, passing the candy.

You smiled up at him, it was so sweet how he remembered something so special about you.

" I love it, thank you. I also got you something, let me just go grab it real quick" You hurridely put down your gifts onto the counter, almost running to the back to grab the basket holding his gifts.

Grabbing the gifts distracted you from hearing Hotch talking with someone on the phone.

Once you returned, Hotch's expression changed to one of annoyance. You stood behind the counter, basket in hand containing the presents, waiting for him to end his call.

" Ok, Thank you Garcia. I'll try to be there soon."
He sighed, putting his phone away. Once he looked up at you standing there with a gift, a smile returned onto his face.

" Wow, is all that really for me?" You nodded sheepishly. " It was kinda hard deciding what exactly to buy you, so I thought I'd just keep it sweet and simple."

" But I know it's a little cheesey to make someone a box of-" You rambled on.

" I love it, Thank you Y/n, really." You sighed a deep breath of relief, feeling your nerves calm down.

" I really hate to do this, but I do have to go back to Quantico. I'll probably be somewhere else by tonight, but I'll try to be back as soon as I can."

You nodded your head, disappointed at his quick exit during this moment. Then you got an idea.

" Wait, wait here for a few seconds. I'll be back real quick." There was a notepad and pen laying around somewhere in the back that now had a huge importance.

Ypu scrammbled around the back for a few seconds, " Y/n, I might have to rush you a little bit."

Right As he finished his sentence, you found the items. " Don't worry I'm coming!"

You rushed back to the front, hurriedly scribbling your number onto the piece of paper. "Here! It's my number so we don't have to wait however many days to talk again"

You passed him the paper, " Now go before I accidentally get you in trouble."

Once he left, you finished cleaning the cafe in a few hours. Thinking of Hotch and you the entire time like some kind of school girl crush. You fell asleep instantly, hoping the day passed faster so you could see him sooner.

After finishing getting ready in the morning, you checked your phone. There in the middle of your screen waited the question you've been dreaming about.
