A monster who lies is nothing but a nuisance, in Lawliets words, that is how he described himself. But little did he know that there was another man of the same name. Someone who had devoted the rest of his life to that very cause of getting rid of those monsters, someone who had almost lost himself to the brink of insanity all because he wanted his views to be seen.
The wind howled as L stood on the top of a building, in the middle of nothingness. His arms shaken to his side, with blank thoughts clouding his mind making it hard to breathe in the musky air around him as he allowed the wind to shake his dirty bangs and the heavy rain to douse his face, letting the rain weigh down the fabric of his clothes.
When L finally lifted his heavy head, he saw another figure in the distance, on another roof facing the same sad reality as himself. The warm figure had also had his head rung low while looking as if he were in deep though. Deeper than L could imagine himself in.
The man's wide eyes and shaken face stood out to him, it painted the red man's face a pitiful color. L wondered to himself who would stand outside without an umbrella subconsciously letting themselves get drenched by the cruel, unforgiving rain other than himself?Light, the same man who had killed him. The same man who had taken the world away from him. The same man who had killed thousands of others including those closest to him. The same man that had slaughtered innocents in his path to successs.
Light Yagami would.
L's rival and prime suspect. The person who he had been trying to get closest to. Not because of personal matters, but because of his beloved investigation. Light Yagami was a sad man, a very keen but damaged man. L didn't pity him, nor did he shed any tears in his honor, he loathed light in a way. He didnt feel the same hatred for him that he felt towards Kira, no. Light Yagami was different than Kira.
He knew from the very beginning that Light was Kira, he had all the proof he needed. but he figured that if his mind ignored that fact then someone else would come into play and prove him wrong. Perhaps a new "Kira" would emerge to help him escape the bubbling thoughts of Light. Like as Misa or Higuchi did along with the countless other Kira impersonators he had dealt with. Even if it would meant his work would pile up infront of him.
The very image of Light in his mind overwhelmed him, it kept him up at night knowing that he had fallen victim to this creature. To this absolute genius of a killer. Every night he consmed his thoughs, wether he was alseep, working on a case, or eating sweet nothingness, Light was there. It made his blood boil and simmer all at the same time, his cluttered thoughts of Light, Kira, made his heart race at an inhuman speed and made his palms sweat. L would be lying if he said he didn't understand why light did what he did during his reign as Kira, but he couldn't grasp his head around why?
What was his motive for all of this? He already made it clear that he was going to become the 'God of the New World' but what was consitered the new world? Light had risked everything he had in order to Pursue his idea of a new reality. He had risked his family, his friends, and even his own life to complete the very task he slaved at for months, the very task that puzzled L.A part of L's heart ached, but he could never figure out why. and no amount of pondering or clacking away at his laptop would change that.
The same Light Yagami L had deemed friends with was the real Light. Kira is nowhere near on the same level as Light Yagami was. It was almost as if they were two separate beings.. one who could be categorized with honorable beliefs that could be followed by many if only given the time, and the other. The one who would stop at nothing to achieve what he so longed for, The one who abused and terrorized the people dearest to them just to feel something, to become god. And would do anything to secure that feeling.
L often wondered how the mind of Kira worked. It was clear to him that he was stronger than others when it came to the mental field. Light had always been top of his classes and his intelligence was one of the many things that piqued L's interest in the man, along with the fact that lights looks and ideas were admirable to anyone, He was quite the model. L often found himself admiring the fact that he could relate to Light in some ways. His intelligence wasnt like any other killer he had encountered.L decided to take the the brave initiative and head towards the edge of his pillar, towards Light. This would be his final 'Dance' with Kira, once and for all. No more back and forth bickering, no more running each others brains empty, no more playing cat and mouse, no more slaving away watching monitor screens every hour and no more treacherous hours of constant lying and work. Just a simple, modest conversation. well, at least as modest as it can get when you're interrogating the most prominent killer in the world.
