The revelation that Jin Dabum was in fact a Mafia made the two sit in total silence for a few moments, attempting to comprehend what they had seen. He had been right there while everyone was accusing one another, he was there, the actual killer.
Notification sounding was what had made her pull her phone from beside her and glance down at the screen, noticing that everyone had voted for Jinha. As they had not planned anything prior, Jiwoo was confused, was now the time for her to give Kyungjun his phone back or was she to wait for the others to come and confirm?
Rising from where she had been sat on the bed, she opened the door, finding herself face to face with Mina, Somi and Dabum. She froze upon seeing the boy, swallowing harshly as she attempted to maintain obliviousness but it was hard. Jiwoo knew that he had murdered their classmates, brutally, it was no longer a game to him — it was a means of getting revenge.
Dabum's voice made her close her mouth, reminding herself to act normal, as if nothing has happened. "Have you given him his phone yet?" He asked her and she shook her head, rummaging through her pockets to locate it.
Pulling it out, she held it so they could see. "I was just about to, you have all voted, right?" Jiwoo asked, hoping she sounded inconspicuous.
Kyungjun rose from where he had been sitting and attempted to take the phone from her hands but Dabum was faster, moving it from the boy's grasp. Mina was quick to accept the phone, rushing out of the door quickly before Kyungjun could see where she was taking it. The boy clenched his jaw and looked between the remaining two.
"Give me my phone." Kyungjun warned as he took a step towards Dabum.
"Tell us where the keys are. I'll give it to you then." Dabum negotiated and Jiwoo rolled her eyes, were they really insistent on possessing the keys?
The door reopened and Mina entered, phoneless and sending Jiwoo a short nod. Kyungjun took a step towards the boy, pushing him backwards. "You scumbag, have you lost your mind?" Kyungjun questioned harshly, his hand moving to wrap around his neck.
What he now knew about the boy made him believe this was justifiable, he just hoped that Jiwoo felt the same way.
Through choked gasps, Dabum managed to get out a few words, "you'll never find it by yourself." Pushing the boy's hand off him, he attempted to make himself appear more intimidating than he actually was. "You know what happens when you can't vote."
Jiwoo rolled her eyes and restrained the urge to punch the boy herself. She glanced down at her own phone, itching to press his name but it would be foolish, everyone had already voted. Reminding herself to tell Junhee tomorrow, she turned to the two boys, noticing that Dabum had once again asked where the keys were, this time Kyungjun relenting and moving out of the way to lead them.
Following him into the hallway, Jiwoo stayed close by him, ironically finding more comfort by his side than she felt besides the others. It was odd, how much the games had changed them all, people had grown, negatively. A part of her was glad that more people found confidence within themselves, but the other part argued that it was not for the greater good, they just became everything they hated.
Dabum for example, a bullied boy who turned to murder as an act of revenge, whether it was for the game or not. He grew more confident with his killings and Seungbin's corpse was the evidence of that.
Restraining a shiver, Jiwoo inched closer to Kyungjun and glanced around as they stopped walking and the boy motioned to where he had put the keys. Mina opened the door and found that it was empty. Somi grimaced and moved the girl out of her way, digging through the various objects to find the keys. Holding them up victoriously, she pulled herself to her feet, sending a smug smirk in Jiwoo's direction.
The girl merely rolled her eyes.
"Are you happy now?" Kyungjun drawled from where he was leaning against the wall. "Give me my phone now."
With that, the two girls exchanged a glance and Jiwoo squinted at them. Dabum agreed to show the boy where Mina had hidden it and Jiwoo found herself tagging along, staying behind the two as she tried to piece together if there were anymore remaining Mafias.
Finally arriving at an open door, Dabum motioned for the boy to go inside and Kyungjun paused by the doorway, refusing. When Jiwoo stood beside him, she noticed that his phone had been taped to a mannequin body and was set up like a predictable trap. Shaking her head, she looked between the two and watched as Kyungjun pushed the boy forwards, telling him that he was to go get it.
However, the boy walked back out, rolling his eyes and telling Kyungjun that he should get it himself. After more arguments, Jiwoo pushed past both of them and ripped it off the mannequin, walking back to Kyungjun with his phone in hand. Holding it out for the boy, she glared at Dabum and stepped into the hallway.
While the boy searched through the list of names of who to vote, Dabum glanced at the girl curiously, noticing she was doing the same. "Why are you avoiding my eye, Jiwoo?" He suddenly asked and the girl looked up from her phone, furrowing her brows. "You haven't looked at me once, you walked closer to Kyungjun and even now, you're in a constant state of flight."
Jiwoo found herself taking a step towards Kyungjun as Dabum smirked. "You have all just annoyed me, that's all." She attempted to defend, but he had already put everything together.
"You know." Dabum commented suddenly, tilting his head at the girl as Kyungjun glanced between the two.
Just as Jiwoo went to open her mouth, she was pushed towards the room, her body moving into Kyungjun as she stumbled. When they both were in the room, Kyungjun placed his hands on the girl's shoulders to steady her, ensuring she did not face-plant.
Their eyes moved towards the door as Dabum smirked. Kyungjun clenched his jaw and went to attack the boy, varied insults on the tip of his tongue.
Then the door was slammed shut, locking the two inside.
