Icarus. My Icarus. We differ from that of the fable (the Icarus mine so desperately seeks to escape). I am not the sun he fell in love with. Far from it. I could never burn my Icarus. What I am, though, is the sea– the salty body of water that caught him as he fell, that embraced him as he died and stole his final breath. Icarus loved the sun, but I, the sea, loved Icarus.
