Chapter 2
Zee smirked in victory when his target went down. It was a precise shot in the forehead from a thousand meters away. He was nesting in the elevated portion of the hill, hidden by the shrubs, where he could have an overlooking view of the village where his target hides. He removed his eye from the scope and began to pack up his rifle.
"Ace, that was a perfect shot, as always," commented one of his team members, making Zee roll his eyes.
"That's obvious. When it comes to my targets, my eyes are unbelievably sharp." Zee gingerly retraced his steps, and when he reached the clearing, he mounted on his bike with a wide grin.
Another successful mission.
"Yes, yes, the Gods have blessed you with laser-sharp eyes. Since no one is tailing you, you can rest easy. Are you planning to drop by the headquarters?"
"Nope, sorry. Tell the commander that I'm going to be late for my date. My Jinnie doesn't like to be kept waiting. He gets suspicious." Jin getting suspicious is the last thing on his list. When it comes to Zee, Jin is very observant and sharp. It's pretty admirable that Zee was able to keep his side job under wraps, but Zee suspects that his commander helped him.
"I'll relay that to the commander. Your next mission will arrive this week, and again, be extra careful, or everything that we worked for will be in vain."
Zee understands what his friend is saying. It has been two years since he was recruited to join this organization. He was reluctant at first, but he was given an offer he could not refuse. His shooting skills were put to good use because he was the team's sniper.
Zee parked beside an abandoned building and hid his bike behind the bushes, then covered it with piles of dried leaves and branches. He walked around the building, lifted the rusty steel door, and then pressed a button. It was a secret elevator to the basement.
The elevator dinged open, and Zee removed his jacket, boots, shirt, and pants, then headed to the bathroom. He took a shower, and after making sure that he smelled great, he proceeded to his dressing room and picked out a navy blue shirt and some black pants, then a pair of shoes that would go well with his outfit. After getting all ready, he sent a text message to their family driver to fetch him.
Zee left the place the same way he arrived. When his ride pulled up, Zee slid down the backseat. "You're good on time, Ac-- Boss. Sorry, I slipped," Hiro apologized when Zee narrowed his gaze at him.
Hiro Sawada, the one who was on the other line earlier, is their team's IT guy. He controls the information, and when he's not on duty, he is Zee's personal driver. He also happens to be Zee's childhood friend.
"You're not going to see the old boss?" It has been three days since Zee went home, but he informed the main house that he was safe. He doesn't really stay at the main house; he lives in an apartment away from the Yamaguchi because he does not want any trouble.
"No. He can go crazy for all I care," Zee added dismissively, which is not far from it, considering that Jin declared in front of his father that he's going to take him. Zee had a good laugh after that story.
Hiro heaved a sigh. "Come on, Zee. When will this feud end? He's still your father, and-" Hiro stopped and shut his mouth when Zee stared at him darkly via the rearview mirror. Hiro gulped and felt goosebumps on his arms.
I wonder why Jin calls Zee "angel." This man is far from that. Well, his angelic personality is a good cover anyway, so that's that, Hiro thought to himself and focused on driving. The thing between the old boss and Zee is family business, and Hiro should not get involved.
