Chapter 4

"Leave Japan."

Zee was rendered speechless after hearing those words. Two weeks have passed since the incident and when he finally dropped by, his father icily dropped those words when he swung by the yakuza boss' office.

Zee scoffed, a bitter taste exploding in his mouth. "Good to see you too," he replied sarcastically and maintained a neutral expression, even though all he wanted was to bash his fist on his father's face.

Kazuo rubbed his temples and met Zee's eyes filled with fury and disdain. "Go back to Italy, while they're distracted. I talked to the Morelli don... they'll help me distract the Miwa clan."

Instead of feeling elated, Zee's body trembled in anger. "The fuck? Why did you have to get the Morelli family involved? Are you out of your mind? This is our fight." Although being sent back to Italy is very favorable to Zee's mission, that would mean that he would be observed and supervised by Jin like a hawk. He won't be able to move freely there.

He already had a plan. He will sneak out from time to time and will plant a double here in Japan while he's on a mission.

"You know better than anyone that the Miwa clan is getting bolder. Who knows what they will do next? I can't risk that."

Zee wanted to argue that the Miwa clan are small fries. He can obliterate them in one night, but the clan is holding a very important piece of information that Zee needs.

"I can handle myself just fine." Zee plopped on the couch and groaned. He knows that once his father has decided, no one can sway him. "What about the elders and the opposing groups? You know that they will not take my leaving lightly. After all, they're using me so they can wrap you in their fucking rotten fingers."

That was what Zee thinks, not knowing that his father kept him alive by making him stay in Japan. Now, with the support of the Morelli, he can keep Zee away from the scheming elders. Kazuo knew that he should've asked the Morelli family for help a few years back, but no one can blame him for wanting to spend more time with his son.

Kazuo didn't witness Zee's first coo, first word, first step... he missed everything. When the opportunity finally arose for Kazuo to take Zee with him to Japan, although he was very happy, Zee was cursing him to death. Zee blamed Kazuo for his mother's death and suffering. Still, Kazuo wanted nothing but to be with Zee, even if his son hated him to the core.

"Don't mind them; it's been taken care of," Kazuo replied dismissively and went back to the documents he was reviewing.

Zee raised his brow. "What did you do? Those persistent fucks won't back down easily."

Kazuo smiled a little, small enough that Zee was not able to notice it. His son doesn't have to know. He will take that piece of information to his grave. "You don't have to sweat the small details. You will be leaving tonight."

"But-"

"If there's nothing else, you can leave. I'm busy." Kazuo knew that he was being cold, but he just can't admit to himself that he didn't want his son away from him. For so many years since he was hauled back to Japan leaving Johanna and their unborn child, Kazuo learned how to mask his emotions.

When he brought Zee to Japan, all he wanted to do was to spoil his child, but the elders won't let him. Kazuo knew that once he showed a little bit of affection to Zee, his son's life would be in danger. He was not ignorant to the bullying that Zee suffered just because he cares about Zee. In order to hopefully stop the unkind treatment, he acted cold with Zee, and that's how their relationship deteriorated.
