I peeked over the door trying to see if my mama was in there, gently pushing past the furr that hung as a makeshift door I looked at my mothers figure sitting down, she moved her head to look at my direction her beautiful dark brown hair swaying with her movements

"(Y/n)! My sweet Angel what are you doing in here? Don't you wanna go outside and play with your siblings?" She stood up walking towards me crouching down to meet my eye level kinda, I shook my head "I was kinda..hoping you'll read me that story you were reading to me a while ago..." I said twiddling with my fingers looking up at her with hope in my eyes, she smiled warmly towards me "the great celestial and the avatar?" She tilted her head her warm ocean eyes looking at mine, I nodded happily

"That one!" I jumped up happily
It was my favorite bedtime story
"Don't you wanna wait until night time for me to read it to you?" Her gentle chuckles reached my ears "w-well..I was hoping you could read it to me right now then read it to me again at bedtime so then me, kat and sokka listen to it together!" I looked at my mother with hoping she'll say yes, she then picked me up in her arms and I rested my head on her shoulder enjoying her warmth "okay okay I will but if you promise not to tell your siblings what's gonna happen in the story when I read it again" she smiled at me, I then dramatically gasped "mama I would never do that!" I giggled along with her

She sat me down in her comfortable fluffy bed and she went to go get the book I've been so longingly wanting to hear for so long, she then emerged back with book in hand, I scooted over to make give her the space even tho there was already tons of space around "alright my little moonlight are you ready?" My mother said as she sat down right next to me I scooted closer to her resting my head on her shoulder as we laid down "mhm!" She opened to book flipping intro page over and finally starting

"Many moons ago there was only the avatar alone with no spirit to wander with them through many generations to come, the moon saw its loneliness and felt so oh sad for the avatar but not yet decided to speak to them, that was until one night the avatar an air nomad cried to the lake his tears softly hitting the quiet water" she softly spoke reading the words that were permanently written on the paper, I looked up at her "why was he sad mommy?" I looked up at her feeling the nomads sadness somehow "and what's an air nomad?" I looked back at the book in confusion

"Shh my lotus you'll find out soon enough" I smiled at the nickname she's always given me
"His sad tears slipped and slipped from his eyes running down his cheeks, he was heartbroken and betrayed, as his tears slipped the moon sadden by his sadness 'oh what's wrong dear child please do tell' the moon quietly called out to him there for his aid 'great moon spirit I do not mean to disturb but my broken heart oh so aches and hurts' he quietly weeped trying to wipe his watery eyes 'oh no..what's happened dear child what have they done?' The beautiful glowing moon asked the weeping monk" my mother said so gracefully even giving them little voices, I loved her voice and reading she made it so peaceful and calm and her lullaby's were the best, she was the prettiest lady I've ever seen " 'oh great moon they've broken my heart she's broken it! For you see she betrayed me for another man! A wealthy man with money' he sobbed and covered his face with his trembling hands 'oh my dear one...I'm so sorry...' her warm light rested against his skin 'oh dear moon...tell me if I could send up my heart to you..I don't want it to be broken again...'

'Oh now you need a heart to show the world happiness and love...you've done so much for everyone..you've been keeping balance for so long...' the moons gentle voice then started to wander off then the light glowed 'dear avatar I've noticed your loneliness of wandering this world alone for a while...i wish to give you a gift of light...a wish to keep you balance and not ever so break you're heart' her lingering light seemed to be only hitting him preventing the darkness of the night to touch him
