The day all the groups left, some say that they just left in peace and that's it. Some say they left but threatened that not everyone was their allies. Well, for us mages, it was chaos. There are two sides to mages, regular mages and the dark magic mages. Neither side wouldn't agree with each other, so it began war with each other. There was a battle, a bloody battle where some lost their lives while others were deeply injured. There was fire all over, people running for their lives, while others tried getting their belongings and getting back to their families. It was a disaster.
(A mage's POV) As one of the protectors of the group, I ordered others to retreat and cover until everything has calm down. As I was fighting against the dark mages, all that was in my mind was war. Screams, fires, blood. Blood. It ranged in my ears and it boiled my ears. If only none of this happened, we would have been home. Sleeping peacefully... "Dear!!" I heard my wife calling me and I backed off for a bit as someone took my position. She had our children beside her and our newborn child in her arms. "What do you want us to do?" "I need you to run as far from here! It's too dangerous here!" She looked at me with sad eyes. "What about you?! I don't want to leave you!! I don't want the children without a father!!" She said as she held her tears. I felt my tears fall but I put my head on her head. "I promise, I'll make it out of here, safe and alive. Just make sure our children get to safety. You're so much braver than me." She smiled sadly, "Says the one who's fighting for us. I trust your word, my love. I'll see you soon." She said as she left and I wished to see her leave but I had to keep fighting. It's now or never, I thought.
(Village people's POV)
Hours passed and the battle was over. Though, everything was a mess. We were lucky that the mages didn't attack us but everything they destroyed, it looked awful. As we looked for food, we could also look at what was left. We could see blood, dead bodies, what's even worse, ripped parts of someone. I almost threw up at seeing it as I wasn't used to gore at all, so I turned away. "I hate it here... Let's go back home..." I said as I covered my mouth as it also smelled terrible. "No, we're looking for food and see what remains here... Who knew mages can fight like this?" My friend said as he kicked something and kept walking. "Uh, wait!" I said as I tried to catch up. I caught up and looked at him. "Why don't we just tell we didn't get any food? Let's say, maybe the mages got all of it!" He gasped. "And lie to the chief?! Never! Besides, if we wanted to say we couldn't get anything, there has to be a good reason. It is winter and it's harder to find food but we should try until we find something! Don't be a weakling!" As we walking in the snow and snow started to fall once again. "It's turning night soon... I guess we should hurry." I agreed finally and we kept looking as it snowed a bit more. We spilt up a few more minutes later but we could see each other from afar. It was snowing a lot but the cold didn't really bother me. We lived on the mountain, which is much colder but we got used to the extreme temperatures. "Have you found anything?!!" My friend shouted from afar. "Not yet!! What about-" I stopped myself as I heard something as I walked forward a bit. He noticed and shouted back. "What's wrong?!!" "I hear something!! Walk towards me and I'll look for the sound!!" "Okay!!" As he headed towards me, I walked carefully and listened for the sound. As I walked more, I heard the sound more clear and realized what it was. I gasped and run towards to the sound. I got there and stopped as I saw in front of my eyes. A baby boy in a basket was crying and shivering in the middle of nowhere. I didn't hesitated to take off my jacket and wrapped it around him as I picked him up. My friend reached me and saw with his own eyes. "Aww, you poor thing... So cute and fragile, yet left alone in this extreme winter..." He said as he got off as much snow off him and the baby seemed to calm down. "He seems so young. Maybe at least 5 or 6 months." I said as I shivered in the coldness but I felt better that the baby was warm. "Wait, there's something in the basket he was in." My friend said as he bended down and he seemed to grab a piece of paper. "What does it say?" He cleared his throat before reading it, while the baby boy slept. It took a few minutes to read everything as I listened to every word and we both stay quiet when he finished reading. The wind howled more than ever and the boy seemed still asleep. "I, I have no words..." "Me neither. We should go back and tell chief about this. Forget about hunting right now! We take the boy with him and if we have a chance, we can hunt again." I nodded as we started our way back to the mountains, leaving the basket in the snow.
(The villager chief's POV)
"The hunters have returned!!" I heard someone said and I went back to reading. Before I could read a full sentence, I heard the gasps and the peoples' disbelief. "What is this?? They don't bring food but a baby boy??" "This is interesting... How and where did they find him??" "The baby seems like a newborn, so young!" "Could it be from that battle?!" "Oh my God, he's using his jacket to cover the baby and he looks almost frozen!" "Let's hurry and help them!" I went out of my house to see what was going on and saw what happened. "What's going on?!" I said as I saw most of the people surrounding two people. I noticed it was the hunters, and I watched them as the two hunters I sent were looking at me. One of them was shivering as he had no coat but someone gave him a blanket and he held tight on it. Someone beside them held a baby and that grabbed my attention. A woman took hold of the baby as the hunter who used to be holding it tried to get warm. I waved my hand for them to enter, including whoever had the baby in their arms. They entered and we all sat down. "What's the meaning of this? Explain immediately." I snapped quietly and the hunter who wasn't shivering began telling me the whole story. After listening to the whole story, I closed my eyes before I spoke. "So you brought the boy, so I would take care of him?" I said as I opened my eyes with a neutral face. I almost don't believe that's the whole story to be honest, they must be leaving stuff they haven't told me yet. "You're the perfect candidate. Yes, I know you're busy but think before you say something. Have you ever wanted to have your own son?" He quietly spoke and I stared at him as I was shocked and hurt as I remembered my past. I used to have a baby boy, along with my wife. But my wife died when he was born and he was killed by that very cold winter... Other babies didn't survive, few did only survive. I felt a frown on my face and my eyes looking at my feet. They stayed silent but the baby boy seemed awake and was making noises. I looked up and stared at him. He looked confused but he seemed well and healthy. I felt my heart melt as I put my sight on him. "My own son..." I said as I stood up and walked to the baby boy. He seemed to be playing with the blanket as he was trying to put it in his mouth. I took the blanket away from his mouth and smiled at him. "No, don't do that." He just stared at me and did small noises as if he wanted to talk. "I'll take care of him." I reassured them and the one hunter who was shivering before wasn't anymore and stood up to give me a letter he had in his hand. "What's this?" "The letter that was with him. You may read it later." He handed it to me and I listened as I put the letter away. "What should I name you?" One cleared his throat as to interrupt my thoughts and I glared at him. "His name is Trixx." "Hm, Trixx. I like that name. Hi there, Trixx!" I said cutely at him as I leaned towards him and he smiled and cheered as he heard his name. It seems it is his name. I grabbed him from the lady taking care of him for awhile and rocked him back and forth. "Welcome to your new family, Trixx."Finally!!! After a few weeks I said it would be done, I'm done with this chapter!! I've been so busy with work, barely no chance to write! So it'll be a long time for the next chapter to come since I haven't written it yet. But in the meantime, I'll post other stories that I have kinda written so you don't get bored. (When I get the chance to post them as well.) I don't have an exact time when it'll be ready for the next chapter but hopefully soon.
