Skylar told herself as she pushed through the crowd to get to her classroom.
Why the fuck do I have to get crowded at school too?
The 17-year-old thought to herself, making sure not to show her annoyance. She had to be friendly. Kind. Polite. Happy. She was Taylor Swift's sister after all. She wasn't allowed to be anything but perfect. At least that's what the media drilled into her and, despite Taylor's efforts to debunk that and get through to her that she didn't always have to be happy, Skylar only let herself believe the media. The media doesn't care about her feelings so they'll be brutally honest. Taylor cares about her sister so she's biased.
"Good morning Skylar," Her teacher greeted her once she was finally able to get to her first period class. Skylar smiled and greeted her teacher, hiding the exhaustion behind her very believable smile.
For the next 15 minutes, Skylar sat at her desk just mindlessly scrolling on her phone. The people on Twitter were getting excited about the Eras Tour, which was scheduled to start next week. Taylor had agreed to let Skylar come along, which meant that Skylar was finally going to get a much needed break from school. In person, at least. She didn't mind having to do school work online. The work wasn't the tiring part of school for her. It was the people. Everyday, people take pictures and videos of her at school, giving her absolutely no privacy. People come up to her to try and get answers from her about Taylor's upcoming projects, or just about Taylor in general. People try to get close to Skylar in hopes of meeting her sister. Skylar was so tired of all of it.
"We have an assembly happening today so we'll be leaving in a few minutes," Her teacher informed the class when the bell rang. While the other students cheered, ecstatic that they'll have to spend less time in class today, Skylar groaned internally at the thought of having to navigate the school halls while everyone else at the school was also trying to get to the same destination.
Once Skylar's class was dismissed over the intercom to go to the gym, she stood up and made her way over to the middle of the line. She thought that standing in the middle would make it harder for people to come up to her freely and snap pictures of her or with her.
Stepping out into the hall was an overwhelming experience for Skylar. It was crowded and noisy, and everyone was getting their personal spaces invaded. Unfortunately, Skylar was currently on the other side of the school from the gym so it was going to be at least ten more minutes before she got into the gym.
During her walk through the school, countless people came up to her with a camera in their hands.
How is this legal? Why isn't the school doing anything about it?
The teen was quite annoyed by the lack of support the school gave her about this; she had talked with an administrator once about the situation in hopes of them regulating what went on at their school, but was disappointed to be told that there was nothing they could do and that she just had to deal with it because 'that's what comes with having a famous sister'.
After many photos and videos taken of Skylar without her permission, and people coming up to her to basically interview her about her sister, Skylar had finally made it into the gym. She quickly scanned the gym to look for a place to sit — somewhere she could be without people looking at her.
She found an empty seat in the very back corner of the gym and quickly made her way over there before someone else took that seat. She was now able to see everything in front of her, which she liked because that meant she didn't have to worry about what people might be doing behind her. All of the fame and public attention made her paranoid about the littlest things and there wasn't a day that went by that she wasn't anxious about what people were going to do to make her look bad.
