INT. GHOSTBUSTERS HEADQUARTERS - EQUIPMENT ROOM - DAY

Walter Peck meticulously checked the readings on the Ghostbusters' equipment, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Katie ever since Janine's playful nudging. He couldn't shake the curiosity about what might be possible between them. As he adjusted a dial, Katie entered the room, surprising him.

KATIE:

Oh, Mr. Peck, I didn't realize you were in here.

WALTER PECK (turning, a touch flustered):

Miss, uh, Katie. Yes, I'm just conducting my routine checks. Nothing out of the ordinary.

KATIE (smirking):

Well, that's a relief. Wouldn't want any surprises from this bunch, would we?

Walter couldn't help but smile at her wit, finding her banter refreshing.

WALTER PECK:

Indeed not. Speaking of surprises, I've been meaning to ask... would you be interested in joining me for dinner sometime? Perhaps Saturday evening?

Katie's eyes widened in pleasant surprise, a genuine smile spreading across her face.

KATIE:

Funny you should ask, Mr. Peck. I was actually going to ask you the same thing.

They both chuckled at the serendipitous moment, relieved that they were on the same page.

WALTER PECK (with a smirk):

Well, then, it's settled. Saturday at 7, Hermann's?

Katie nodded eagerly.

KATIE:

Absolutely, I'll be there.

Their brief moment of joy was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Peter Venkman in the doorway, a knowing smirk on his face.

PETER VENKMAN:

Well, well, well. What do we have here? Peck, asking Katie out for dinner? Never thought I'd see the day.

Walter and Katie exchanged a look of exasperation before slipping back into their familiar banter.

WALTER PECK (gruffly):

Mind your own business, Venkman. This doesn't concern you.

PETER VENKMAN (teasingly):

Oh, but it does. This is prime material for my next round of office gossip.

As Peter continued to jest, Walter discreetly passed a note to Katie, a playful glint in his eye.

The note read: "See you at Hermann's, Saturday at 7."

Katie couldn't help but grin at the clandestine communication, knowing that things were finally falling into place between them. Walter and Katie exchanged one last glance of shared understanding before focusing back on Peter, their playful argument continuing as they secretly looked forward to their upcoming date. However, little did they know, Peter's suspicions were already piqued, and he was determined to uncover the truth behind their newfound camaraderie.
