Louis was 32 and he had never been in a relationship.
Not only had he never been in a relationship, he was also kind of a virgin.... well, not quite, because he had had sex, but just once, and it hadn't been great.
He had always known he was gay, though, and he had dated and kissed boys here and there, and he knew he liked it, but for some reason it never really went anywhere.
When he was in school there had never really been any boys he liked and were gay, so he never had a chance to date anyone.
So he had his first kiss at 19 with a boy from Uni, his name was Danny. They had been at a party, and they were both drunk, and while they were dancing Danny kissed Louis out of the blue. Louis had no idea how to kiss but he just did whatever he felt was right, and they made out for a while. He never knew if Danny enjoyed the kiss, though, because even though Louis saw him around sometimes after that night, they never talked about it, it was as if it never happened.
Then came George, the lad that Louis had sex with when he was 20, they had been on two dates, and after the second date, they did it, not because Louis specially liked George, but because he just wanted to get it over with, and the whole thing was very underwhelming. He never saw George after that, and Louis was fine with it.
As the years went by, Louis developed crushes, but he never did anything about it, and no one really asked him out. He never understood why, though, because even though he was mostly an introvert, he was still social, he had friends, he went out, but still, nothing ever happened.
And while nothing ever happened he kept having to explain to people (friends, family, people from work) that no, he had never been in a relationship, but he had no idea why. And everyone had an opinion about it, some said he was too picky (he wasn't), some that he was too serious, while some would suggest that his person would come when he least expected it.
He was 27 when, after hearing a lot of success stories and a lot of insisting from different people, he decided to download a dating app. It felt weird for him, though, and although he matched with some men, it always seemed awkward to talk to them, and it showed that no one was really making an effort.
Until he matched one person, Brian, and after texting for 2 days, Brian asked him out for a drink, and Louis decided to take a risk and just say yes. So they met at a bar, and they had a couple of drinks, and after a couple of hours Brian asked Louis if he wanted to go clubbing, but he didn't like clubbing, so he thanked him, and said he would just go home.
So they left the bar together, and Louis was going to get an Uber, but Brian said he could walk him home, and when Louis agreed, Brian just kissed him, right there in the middle of the sidewalk. And it felt so freaking nice, Louis basically melted under his lips, and he hated himself for being 27 years old and this only being the third person he kissed.
They started walking while holding hands, until 25 minutes later they reached Louis' place, and Louis kissed Brian, but made the conscious decision of not inviting him inside, he wasn't ready for anything else.
For the next few days they texted, and on Saturday, Brian invited Louis over during the day, saying his flatmates were out of town and they could watch a movie, whichever movie Louis recommended. So Louis went, and they watched a movie while eating pizza, and Brian put his arm around him, which felt nice. When the movie ended, Brian kissed Louis, and they made out for a while... until Brian suggested they went to his bedroom. Louis knew what he meant, so he said no, because he wasn't ready for that yet, and Brian replied that nothing had to happen, but that they would be more comfortable.
So they went to his room, and clearly Brian wanted more, but Louis didn't, so he decided he needed to go home, telling Brian he was supposed to meet with some friends (which was not true).
