With a gesture, Owen tousled his hair and held his glasses loosely in his other hand as he absorbed the faint sounds of the outside world trickling into the room – a constant reminder of the monotonous beat he had come to detest over time. He cast a glance at the clock, on the wall. Exhaled audibly once more."I don't fit in anywhere. " he muttered softly with a hint of frustration, in his voice."This is sad. I don't imagine myself being in a place where I'm happy. This cycle of life is really just bringing me down. Doing the same thing over and over again. This endless cycle. See I just want to thrive out there and look at the world knowing the world will be better. Knowing that my future will shine the brightest than I could ever imagine.
Sitting on the couch with a sigh and a distant gaze fixed on the floor before him; Owen pondered thoughtfully about a reality where life was not bound by a predetermined script. A world where actions held weight and significance beyond mere tasks to check off a list.
He stopped for a moment. Idly played with the glasses he was holding in his hand." I wish to wake up one morning and sense there's something there for me. That I'm not just a small part of this larger system. I mean, is there a place like that Auntie?" He let a great sigh.
Taking off her glasses, Auntie Jasmine stands up. I think you need to liven things up a little. ", she replied. "Owen, you are just 16 years old and your life is just beginning. You need to stop stressing and focusing on the bad just take a little glance and see the good here. You are going to do good things. Matter of fact you are going to do great things. You don't see it but I know I sure do. You will be fine don't be sad. Instead of focusing on "cycles," you should focus on yourself. I'm referring to your social life. Is everything okay with you, Owen?" she asked. Getting up, he smiles at her. Auntie Jasmine smiles back and says, "You know you're a horrible therapist.
Owen said. "Well, that's because I'm not a therapist. I am a veterinarian. The only person who should know this is you, Owen. Is school going well?"
Upon sighing, Owen lies down. Auntie Jasmine gets up and puts her glasses on. I'm curious to know, did you get a girlfriend yet?
I would like to meet her if that is the case. She grinned. Seeing himself facepalming, Owens sighs. "I didn't, and if I had, I wouldn't have told you.
Your actions would embarrass me in her presence. A smirk spreads across Auntie Jasmine's face as she leans on Owen. Yes, you are correct." Auntie gets up and grabs her phone."Are you hungry? I'm going to call a pizza place."
Owen gets up fast. "Can you add my favorite soda? Auntie Jasmine looks over. "Is it the blue one?" Owen says "You're correct." Auntie Jasmine sighs and says. "I'll call them right now." "Great" Owen smiled.
October 11, 2021.
Everything will change... for the worst. A day I thought it was normal turned out to be the worst day humanly possible.
Owen floated in the void of space, weightless and disoriented. His breath hitched as he looked around, his voice trembling.
"Huh? Where am I? What is this place? It's so... dark."
He waved his hand experimentally, watching it drift in slow, aimless arcs.
"Shouldn't I be dead by now?" he muttered to himself. "Geez, it's so cold..."
As his words faded into the silence, something massive appeared before him—so large it eclipsed his entire field of vision.
"What the—?!" Owen's heart pounded as he struggled to comprehend the sight. A giant hand, vast and luminous, seemed to emerge from nowhere. It was larger than the Earth, larger than anything he could fathom.
