After what happened on the bus, we never spoke of it ever. I wanted to mention it to her, but I feel like she's not mentioning it, because she thinks what she did was awkward and just random at that moment, and to be honest with you. I won't mention it either. Because, that might ruin our friendship, she might think I'm interested in her. Which I am, but I don't want to make it obvious, I don't want to lose a friend, just because I had feelings. After that day we aced our tests on that semester, as we expected. We both celebrated by eating at a McDonald's, nothing fancy. After that semester. 3rd semester began and teachers didn't group me and summer that much anymore, for all I know, they probably saw our potential and knew if we were partners again, we'd easily beat the assignments given to us, but it's not really a big deal. Me and Lewis are partners most of the time, and I'm not really complaining. Lewis is now part of our friend group, Me, Summer, and him. Overtime, when Lewis is with us, he gets smarter and smarter. I guess it does depend on the people you hangout with. He had a very toxic friend group back in the day. So, I made sure he wouldn't experience that when he was with me... It's now the last semester. Little did I know things were going to end here. In this semester me and summer barely hang out, because of the amount of assignments and projects that teachers are rushing us to do. So, if we ever hung out, we'd hang out at a library or a place we can study or do the projects, that were assigned to us. Let's just say, I was not expecting things to happen.
It was April 19 2004, a Monday. It was first period. Summer arrived late and apologized to our first sub teacher. She sat next to me and I asked her "Hey, why are you late?" She didn't answer and just rested her head. She was like this the whole first to fifth period. She finally spoke to me at lunch. She sat next to me and we ate lunch. I tried to open up a conversation, so I said, "Hey, you've been quiet the whole time, since you arrived. What's going on?". She paused and looked at me and said, "Me and my family are going to the U.K after the school year is over." I was confused, on what she said, so I replied, "What's wrong with going to the U.K?" Summer replied loudly "You don't get it do you? We're 'going' to the U.K, we're moving there!" When I heard that I kind of choked while eating my sandwich. I then said to her, "Hey, calm down" she then replied "How can I be calm, I won't be here anymore. I won't go here anymore. I... Won't see you again." I then sighed and said, "We can mail to each other you know." Then she said, "That's one of my problems. I don't know which part of the U.K we're moving. This might be one of my last remaining days here with you. Summer break is coming up and the last semester exam is next week." I felt sorry and just comforted her. I said to her "Hey, if I actually never see you again. I'll always remember you as the fun girl who was there with me since day one. I won't ever forget you, Summer." And all of a sudden. She hugged me... She said while hugging me "I'll miss you, Daniel. Thank you for being my first true friend in my whole life." She started sobbing on my shoulder. I just patted her back and hugged her. After lunch time, we carried on to the last few periods of the day. And on the last few periods the Summer I liked was back. The happy and energetic Summer. I hated when I saw her sad and miserable. And now I'm the one sad about her leaving. I only have a few days with her. I wanted to make it count on her last few days here in San Francisco. So after class I talked to Lewis and said that Summer is leaving. Lewis got sad as well, we both were. So I planned something with Lewis. Here's the plan. After our exams, we hangout for a bit and in that same day was prom and there I'll ask her to dance with me and while we're dancing, I'll confess my feelings to her. Hoping that she'd say she likes me too.
April 27 2004, Monday, the day before she leaves. Me, Summer, and Lewis all studied hard at the library and we all had fun. It was the most fun we had in a while. We spent every minute laughing, telling jokes, studying, and annoying each other. Once we are done. We left the library. Lewis said goodbye to both of us and left. We paused for a few seconds then Summer said to me, "Now what? Do you want to go somewhere or something?" and indeed I do. I said to her, "Come with me, I've got a surprise for you" she nodded and we went to... The CD store. "Ta-da!" I said, while we're in front of the store. Summer was confused, she said "you're going to buy another CD?" and I said "No, you're going to buy the CD for me, I want you to grab any CD you want, and I'll listen to all of them. As a reminder you're still here." She smiled when I said that. We went to the store and I can tell she's choosing really wisely. She managed to pick 3 CD's for me to listen. It was Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and Young MC . I guess she felt more into rock and roll that time because, most of the discs she grabbed, I've never heard of yet, I don't know, if she knows, that I like listening to these artists she picked out. For some reason she just knows me so well, somehow and I never knew why. When we were about to buy it, we saw that the same cashier was there. He smiled at us when he sees us coming. He said to us, "So, you guys dating now or what?" Summer replied to the cashier, "I don't know, maybe, maybe not, we won't tell." she then giggled and winked at me, just like last time. The cashier then replied "Alright I'll assume you guys are dating." Summer then replied for me again "When we're dating, we'd let you know. Don't worry." Then she smiled at the cashier, wrapped her hand around my arm and said, "let's go!" While carrying the discs we bought. I wanted to brought up the question if she likes me or not, but after she winks at me. I feel like she was telling me to just roll with it. So I didn't think of it too much this time. We then took the same bus again. I pulled out my Discman and played one of my discs that I bought with me. She was wondering and asked "Hey, why don't you play the CD's I picked out?" Then I replied, "I'll play them, when you leave." She then replied, "But how will I know if you liked songs I got you?" I replied, "I don't need to listen, in order to know if it's good or not. You have great taste in music. And no matter what disc you got me. I'll play it" She then smiled at me and suddenly grabbed a paper and pen out of her backpack and wrote something, folded it, and quickly put it in the paper bag where all the discs are, I was about to open the paper bag to see what she wrote. But she immediately said to me "Open that paper bag when once I'm gone alright?". I just went with it and said sure. I was slightly confused so I said "Wait gone as in gone in the bus or left the country gone?" She then replied "Neither, open it once you graduated from high school. Alright?" I nodded and promised her... The bus stopped and this was Summer's stop so she waved goodbye to me and wished me good luck for tomorrow's test. Once I arrived home, I was so tempted to open the paper bag, but I didn't think much of it, I left it on the floor, slept and hoped my plan works tomorrow.
