Shadow Exposure

Unsurprisingly a week after the incident with Ichi and Tina, the heists still went off, but thanks to Luz's warning the police were prepared and waiting. What did surprise Luz was that Magpie was nowhere to be found. According to reports, she had left town the morning after the warning went out, and nobody knew where she went. As annoying as that was for Lucia, Luz decided to forget about it.

Willow and Gus had been ecstatic to hear Luz had changed her mind about attending U.A, and Willow had agreed to intensify their usual training to prepare for it. Gus on the other hand would focus on figuring out what to expect from the written section, so they could all study together. This continued for another week, and Luz was making King his breakfast so he could eat while Luz and Willow went to train before school. King was an adorable little boy with black-gray hair and fur that covered most of his body. His quirk, Hellhound, allowed him to develop claws and a horned skull cap when he wanted to, and due to this he chose to most of the time.

Luz still remembered the day they took King in off the street. It was shortly after Luz came to live with Eda, and in no time at all he had become someone precious to all three residents. When King came back from kindergarten in tears because a kid had mocked him for not having a ‘real family’, it had taken all of Luz's self control to hold back Lucia from hunting down the little monster who dared make their little brother cry. Luz had a better answer anyway. The next day King was escorted to class by his big sister, and she had made a big show of showing off some of her light constructs. Near the end, she even made King a throne and crown with hard light to wow the other kids at how regal King Noceda was. In the process though, Luz also made sure to demonstrate how strong she was… and what would happen to anyone who tried to hurt any of her new friends or her family… especially King.

After that Luz made it a point to stop by and check in on everyone, but the message was sent. King never came home in tears again. Lucia insisted on teaching him to fight a bit as well, but he hadn't needed to use it yet. In fact it was one of those visits that ended up saving a little boy from a monster not too long ago, and Luz intended to convince her new friend Tina to continue her vigil when she ended up going to U.A. Tina only knew her as Detective Clawthorne's niece, but she had made sure to introduce herself after their run in before.

It was still early when Willow arrived for their training in an olive sleeveless and brown shorts, so Luz offered her a few strips of bacon to chew on while she finished getting ready, and she was happy to accept. When Luz returned wearing a simple gray tee and black shorts she saw Willow blush, but only because Lucia pointed it out.

“OMG. Lu, she's blushing!!! She thinks we're cute. I have a chance, Lu. My green muscle goddess likes us. Yes, yes, yes, I love today!” Lucia was practically sqeeing inside Luz's head.

This caused Luz's cheeks to flush much to her irritation, but she pushed it aside. For the next two hours they ran the five miles to their training spot where Willow practiced using her quirk, Dyad, to grow and manipulate monstrous plants while Luz dodged or used her quirk to defend herself with her Luminous knuckles, a pair of light construct brass knuckles, her Sunbeam, a beam of concentrated light, and her Shining Shield, a hard light shield that could vary from the size of her fist all the way up to a dome around her. Afterward, they ran the five miles back to Luz's place where Willow took a shower and got on her uniform before they continued on to school with King in tow.

After dropping off King they separated so Willow could handle her duties as the leader of the Botany club, while Luz went to the weight room to finish her daily routine. Luz knew Willow would do the same after classes, but a part of her (mostly Lucia) wished they could do this together as well. Instead, Luz found herself interrupted by an unfortunately familiar pair of hands with slightly pink skin as their owner caressed her arms and continued downward until they cupped her cheeks.
