A couple weeks have passed since I left the hospital and life has been... More or less the same. Except, I've grown a lot more hungry. My body wouldn't properly digest the food I ate which left me nearly weak and my stomach growling almost 24/7. To say I was annoyed would be an understatement.

I was now on my way back home, but I had attracted a stray who walked beside me. And this stray's name was Minami, the same girl who left that sandwich for me in the hospital. She walks with a small bounce in her step, humming a joyful tune to herself.

Minami: So! Is there anything you feel like doing today?

Mutasim: No. I just want to sleep.

Minami: Hmm... You seem upset. Is something wrong?

Mutasim: No. I'm just hungry, that's all.

Minami: Well why didn't you say anything?! Cmon, I know a good place to eat.

Mutasim: Minami-

Minami: Nope!

She presses her index finger against my lips, shushing me.

Minami: I'm not taking no for an answer this time. Cmon!

She wraps her arms around mine and drags me through the streets. I try to pull away, but she was a lot stronger than she looked. It actually creeped me out a little. Reluctantly, I let her drag me to a restaurant. We entered the place and took a seat immediately. She handed me a menu and smiled.

Minami: Pick anything you like. I'll pay. Consider it my treat for you.

Mutasim: Minami-

Minami: Up, bup, bup! Don't wanna hear it.

Mutasim: I was going to say I can't eat anything.

Minami: Hm? Why not?

Mutasim: Everything I eat, I just spit out. Everything tastes like shit.

Minami: Really?

Mutasim: The doctors assumed it was just a side effect from all the painkillers, but I don't know what it really is. All I know is that ever since I woke up in the hospital, I've been unable to eat anything.

Her gaze softens and she looks down, biting her finger as she thinks.

Minami: I... I see. Mutasim, I'd like you to come with me somewhere when night falls. I might have an idea on what to do. But I need you to trust me. I know you've had difficulty doing that all this time, but this time it's really serious.

Her tone had become a lot more serious. She didn't sound as cheery as I was used to hearing which... For the first time in my life, actually had me concerned. Curious about what she had in mind, I nodded.

Mutasim: Okay. I'll sneak out at... What time?

Minami: Midnight. I'll be waiting outside your home.

Mutasim: Okay.

Minami: Let's get out of here then.

She stands, grabs my hand and leads me out of the restaurant. We both make our way to our own homes and wait for the rest of the day to pass.

When midnight arrived, I left my bedroom and tip toed down the stairs. Thankfully, my parents were loud snorers so they couldn't hear me. I leave the house and see Minami still dressed in her school attire. She nods at me.

Minami: Ready?

Mutasim: Yeah. So where are we going?

I follow her as she begins to lead the way. The two of us walk down the empty street which makes me feel cautious and weary. Last time I was out this late at night, I was nearly killed by a Ghoul. Not that it would've been a bad thing. Hell, maybe Minami was a Ghoul and she wanted to kill and eat me. That'd be nice.
